I was surprised to see conservative icon George Will endorse my state governor, Gina Raimondo, for VP on Biden's ticket. Nationally, yeah, she's head of the Democratic Governor's Association, but the public doesn't know her at all, I would think, and Rhode Island only brings 4 electoral votes to the table.

But, knowing from the start that we were stuck between a rock, Boston, and a hard place, NYC, everyone here(except the relatively small segment of "I want my freedom" crowd) are impressed and appreciative of the job we have done here. More testing and contact tracing than most everyone else, and surrounded by two states with some of the highest death tolls, in Ma. and Ct., and only 3 hours east of NYC, we've been lucky to have her lead our effort at containment.

But George Will likes her for many other reasons as well. I'm sure the VP nod won't happen, but she deserves all the positive press she has been getting. She is one tough and brilliant woman:

we also hate school choice because vouchers for charter and private schools have proven ineffective at improving academic outcomes. So if the goal is to actually improve education, then school choice has been a failure. But if the goal is to hurt public education, segregate students, bust unions, and funnel public funds into private hands (like the DeVos family) then school choice has been amazing.

IF you’re interested in learning about school choice, I can probably find you a few academic journals that will better inform you than twitter. And I can put you into contact with a few researchers who have studied this issue. People who unlike Cruz, actually know what they’re talking about.
