Is the lockout going to end soon?

Mission Accomplished

So the other day on SLC Dunk they had an article about a tweet from a players rep talking about the lockout going to end. Then he took it down. Now on the radio this morning I heard the Derick Fisher is tweeting players telling them to get ready for a season.

If anyone has those refrences can you please post them. Are you optimistic? What do you think teams will look like with players scattered all of the world?

Players won't be scattered all over the world if there's a season. To my knowledge, the only players that will miss the season overseas are players that sign in China (Wilson Chandler, possibly JR Smith and others). And even then, I think that's a buyout situation

There's also very, very clearly a thread for this discussion stickied at the top of the page.

I know that but this is a new thread because of the recent tweets. I didn't want to get this lost in a huge stickied thread. If you want you can have the mods merge this thread with the other thread. But, there were two recent big time stories that have came out on the lockout over the last week.

Am I the only one that hates the stickied threads at the top of the page? I'm sorry but I don't want to jump into a converation that already has 23 pages. People will jump all over me if I bring up a point that was discussed on page 14...

It gets worse if you decide to start a new thread on the same subject!

I completely agree. The same thing happened around the draft. It is pretty ridiculous to restrict all lockout talk to one giant thread. I would love to see more lockout talk/opinions from posters here on the board, but I'm not going near that thread.

Hell, why not just make one giant Kanter/Turkey thread? We sure don't want the board getting cluttered.

anyway, apart from the thread, stick talk , what are the opinions of people here? Is the lockout gonna end soon or not? I didnt read much news recently

dutchjazzer has it right, there will be a season because the NBA is not the NFL and they cannot afford to screw with fan interest. The casual fan could careless if the season starts and thay can ill afford for us basketball diehards to go the way of the casual fan. I see there being a season with no missed games, but maybe a shortened preseason.

Amen. Long sticky threads are not worth wading through. And FWIW, I don't think the lockout is ending. I am bettting no season this year.

Today there is an article that Fisher is going to skip going to Vegas to go to the labor talks.

I think the biggest problem NBA players are going to face: is that if they don't seem to fight for their league like the NFL players did than they risk falling down to NHL levels of fandom. Because there are already a lot of fans that believe that these professional athletes are not giving their all.

Doubtful. I for one am not less interested in watching Favors,Millsap,Jefferson, etc. just because they aren't dressed in suits and ties talking to rich white people about things they probably don't understand.

Biggest problem is the economics of the NBA are way out of whack. Huge concessions needed for the league as currently constructed to stay viable.

During the pre-draft days, when every other thread was about a certain BYU player, this site really could've used a 2,000 page "Jimmer" thread as well.

Well, you don't want it clustered but if you look at the lockout poll they are now talking about shaving bears. If threads get to long there is a tendency to get off subject.

I mean that if players in the NBA don't seem to have the same passion for their league as NFL players it is going to hurt them. This isn't talking about showing up to meetings. But, there has to be a clear sense of players wanting the NBA to succeed for the sake of the NBA's future.

NEW YORK – The start of the NBA season was thrown into doubt Tuesday after players and owners made no progress at a key labor meeting, with no further talks scheduled.

Union executive director Billy Hunter says players were prepared to make a "significant" financial move, but found owners unwilling to budge off their positions.

EXCELLENT!!!

I read this somewhere else... where was it??? Oh yeah, the other thread where the same exact discussion is taking place.

But I guess some people like sitting at the kid's table.
