Game Thread Jul 30, 2020: Utah Jazz vs New Orleans Pelicans

Added to Calendar: 07-30-20

A big part of him doing what he did was due to conversations he had with actual cops and their experiences with dirty cops. He even said he wanted to give a voice to those that didn’t have a voice.

I feel he was very clear why he was protesting in answering questions from reporters after that first game he sat.

I just remembered watching highlights and ESPN showing him sit. I was upset. Then heard why, and felt a sense of pride. It seemed like a worthwhile reason to do what he did. To further that a young man in the military felt he dishonored the flag by sitting and asked him to kneel, the people questioning his reasons for protest should look at this fact. He listened to the service man and followed his instructions. Those are the actions of a man who is sincere about what he is doing.

I appreciate you sharinghow you got to where you are at today
I definitely wouldn’t question sincerity now but the stuff I mentioned earlier and the pig socks and Castro shirt... at the time I kinda felt like maybe it was like when Kyrie was talking about flat earth.

I was wrong and it sucks that there are likely a ton of people like me that didn’t pay attention to what was going on because we didn’t take the time to listen or research for ourselves. Then we see it on video and start listening to the stories and realize how ****** and bad it is. I figured I treat everyone equally so most people did too...

The other side of things has some points... our country has some ****** stuff but there are some very good things and as we can see it can get much worse. Hopefully we can get better.

I think most of us are guilty of this. I know I was. Kap doing what he did made me look at these things and opened up my eyes. The measure of a man is what they do with knowledge they receive.

Anyone here who has an IG, Twitter, or Facebook, be sure to drop supportive comments on all those on the Jazz and guys social medias. It's important to show support to them!
I put this thread out there as well:

Man, the jazz Facebook page is the worst. So many people pissed off about the jazz players predicted kneeling.

One good thing about all this protest is that people are actually excited to watch the freaking anthem to see what's going to happen lol.

Nobody cared about it before. No one watched the anthem at home and the people at the games would robotically stand. Now it's getting tons of attention!

Yep, they didn't care at all about the anthem before lol. But yeah, leaving positive comments on socials is important. The vocal idiots unfortunately will always be there and drowning them out is important. People are weird and its the most casual of idiots thats go saying stupid stuff. Many are probably not even fans just simply people who have seen news reports about it and go comment. Just like Trump pages, they always find there way to any negative posts about him and flood the comments with garbage. Facebook in general is the worst, garbage all over the comment sections across there.

I was one that didn't like it early either... it was more about the messenger (there was a lot of stuff around Colin at the time) and it wasn't super clear what he was trying to convey. I get it know and it isn't about disrespecting the flag or the country. Kaep deserves a lot of credit for shining a light on it early and I was definitely wrong for judging his motivations/experience.

I'm still incredibly naïve, but like to think I've made a lot of progress towards understanding these types of issues. Trying to evolve and get better.

Kap deserves nothing. He only started this nonsense when he lost his starting gig to Blaine Gabbert and his BLM girlfriend started getting in his ear.

Also, why do this during the anthem at all? Why not before that during pregame or even post game take a knee in solidarity and just leave the anthem out of it? Would probably be a lot more accepted and the message that is trying to be conveyed wouldn't be lost in controversy.

Or do the anthem prior to the players taking the court.

Leave my precious anthem alone! Wah. I'm a baby and can't handle the idea that people have an issue they want to bring attention to. It makes me feel so insecure.

Yeah, no man should ever listen to a woman.

*Sarcasm*
