What's new

The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

Be specific. What’s wrong? When did it start going wrong? Why were we ever exceptional?

Exceptional compared to most countries. How would you like to live here, in India? Didn't think so.
Our lower class don't have things nearly as bad as they could some day. It's a zero sum game, this could
be us someday.

Lol. Nice specifics.

Remember this thread when you're paying $10 for a gallon of milk. Housing prices have already been hit, very few buying a house today have a hope of ever paying it off. Oh what's that? You want to raise minimum wage to $20 an hour? Let me introduce you to Mr. Robot. He doesn't call in sick, need health insurance, or to go on vacation. Companies will hire cheaper working China and Indian firms to do the programming. There might be a few American jobs for cleaning and polishing these guys so they look nice and pretty.

Yeah, I thought so.

Or go out to eat here?

Do you have an allergy to answering questions, or just a love for regurgitating memes?

My job is to fix those or make them run when they malfunction.

I'm feeling really really good about my job prospects over the next 20 years.

Great! But we only need 1 of you for every 10 robots. You'll probably make a decent living. Your real life friends will be asking to borrow money a lot from you though.

Are you using whataboutism as argument? Yikes, comparing U.S. to India. I could also show a picture of Zurich or San Sebastian and reverse the argument. Or even some really cool places in India. Why don't you answer the question.

I'll help. Living in U.S. offer some major benefits. I would say career development, freedom of speech and diversity (in major cities), are some of the biggest. Quality of education is decent but only when you can afford it. Same goes with healthcare. On the other hand, U.S. is also lacking in major areas when compared to other developed countries (or even third-world ones): high taxes but terrible access to health, education, housing and overall rising inequality. Gun violence is another one. Cost of living is so high and access to some services so crappy, that you can easily enjoy greater quality of life by living overseas after you retire: see the increasing number of expats living in Mexico or places like Cuenca, Ecuador.

Yep and that was fine for 3 months. For the countries long term health though you can't pay people obscene money to stay home, become obese, lose their skills, and expect to compete in the global economy.
Obscene? Lol.
Long term? Lol. I'm hearing a vaccine may be ready this fall.
Canada has been doing it for longer than us and they haven't even had near as many cases as us. Another country (I forget who now, maybe Germany) has too.
Maybe it would be more affordable for the country to do if the taxes on the ultra rich weren't cut by so much.

You have made valid points, but I'm guessing you also speak the native languages, have cultural ties, maybe family....in those places. With a Harvard degree you can pick any job you want as well and pay for a San Sebastien condo. What did you study at Harvard btw?

And how sure are you of that vaccine FishonJazz? You could make a mountain of money investing in Gilead or Pfizer probably the leading candidates.
Take a second mortgage out on the house. It's easy to write things like that, but I like to use the stock example as a reality check. There's a chance we're just going to have to live with it, like we do the flu, pneumonia, and countless other viruses.
