Following Potential 2020 draftees

I still feel like we keep 23 and just pick there.

We don't really have the assets to move up.

I think the Jazz like most of their roster so idk how we would acquire a vet upgrade. Ed Davis seems like the only decent sized contract they'd move. Who is out there for around 5 mill that would make the Jazz better and a team would trade for Ed + 23?

The depth of this class is good enough that the Jazz will likely have someone on their board that they like enough that they won't trade down.

I think we could move up to #19 possibly. BRK is willing to move their pick. Poku or Saddiq could possibly slip there.

What do yall think about Alexsej? His measurables look intriguing. Especially given the Michael Porters, Antetakoumpos, and even Bazeleys of the world.

Whenever the subject of the draft is brought up to Tony Jones he focuses on the idea that the Jazz could use a wing. Just thought that it's relevant to our discussion here.

From what I've heard, I think Tony likes Saddiq Bey and Patrick Williams for the Jazz. Paul Reed might be on his list too.

I think he looks like Keith Van Horn at the University of Utah. I see him becoming a mix of KVH and Chandler Parsons, which would be a very solid player if he can pull it off. He needs a couple years to develop his body and adapt his game to the pros, but I think he can probably do it. He'd play as a 4 mostly, but could also do some stretch-5 if he adds enough strength.

I think the Jazz are familiar with Poku, since he joined practices with Nigel Williams-Goss on the Olympiacos senior team.

I'm high on him. The skill level and fluid athleticism he has at his age and size doesn't come around very often. He has a good natural feel for the game too. He's still raw and he hasn't played great competition. But he has an excellent base of skills right now that he can build upon within NBA development. If by some miracle he's available to the Jazz they have to take him imo.

My biggest concern with Poku is that I've heard some say that he might not love the game very much. But it's unsubstantiated rumor at the moment.

Given his measurements and youth he is my early favorite. You can't teach 7 footers. We have been undersized in a lot of ways and adding a 7 footer who can play the 4 would be intriguing. We have enough 6'2" ball handlers on this team and it seems like more than half of the players in the 17 - 25 range at this point are 6'3" back up guards.

Here are some guys maybe worth a 2nd round pick or an UDFA contract. One is local. https://www.ridiculousupside.com/20...ing-the-2020-off-season-part-four-harris-ford

I could see a deal like Ed +23 for Richaun Holmes +35 or even 23 straight up for Bruce Brown in Detroit (maybe we could sneak Ed in that deal too as a salary dump though they might be high on Brown). Or Ed and 23 for Reggie Bullock and 35. Those are all deals that save a little money and provide help now.

None of those deals are sexy... all might be better value than just drafting someone. We shall see.

He was talking about Jaden McDaniels the other day too

Probably because Jaden is likely to be available and those other two guys likely won't be. My worry with Jaden is that he needs to add weight and strength or he's not going to be able to get anywhere on an NBA floor. He also doesn't appear to show much interest in passing the ball.

The thing that's unique about Poku, imo, is his ability to play downhill. It's a combination of his fluidity running the floor and his advanced handle. You're talking about a 7-footer who can block a shot, grab the rebound, push the ball coast-to-coast, dribble past defenders, and finish the play with an assist or with a dunk on the other end.

Will he stay overseas for a year? What is his contract situation? Guys that skinny take a while to fill out... wonder if we could leave him there a year and send him some protein shakes and a bow flex.

I could see the Jazz moving the pick in a deal that brings back Bogdan Bogdanovic from Sacramento. Other pieces would need to be included.

From what little I've heard, Poku wants to come over, but he could stay another year with Olympiacos. The status of the G-league this year could be a factor in that decision.

I still think Bolmaro is a possibility for the Jazz. Today's NBA is really dominated by 6'7" wings with guard skills and a baseline of athleticism. Bolmaro has potential to become one of those. He just needs 20 lbs and some polishing on his skills. He could learn behind Joe Ingles for a season or two and then replace him in the Jazz's rotation.

Probably gonna be in the gleague for around two seasons to add strength I would say. Assuming the gleague is even playing. I agree about the passing. My concern isn't really that he doesn't pass but that he doesn't seem to have any feel for the game. He forces a LOT of passes. Seems like a thing where he knows the pass he is supposed to make and he'll force it in there even if the situation is poor. He won't try to re-position for a better angle or make a different pass to reset the play.

Do you guys think the Gleague will play? The bubble has been pretty successful. I assume they could do something similar with GLeague teams. NBA teams would certainly benefit from it remaining in operation. The issue I see is money. Not sure the league and owners want to cough up the money it would take...

The start date for the NBA season itself is still up in the air. I don't think the players and other personnel can tolerate these bubble restrictions for anything near an entire season. The benefit-to-risk ratio of operating the G-league is not the same as the actual league, which drives real revenue and value for the franchises.

Notice how there's not expected to be a Combine or in-person workouts before the draft. I think the G-league might end up in the same category, unless the public health climate changes.
