Following Potential 2020 draftees

Lemme just make this perfectly clear... Cuz a player does behind the back passes while their driving, doesnt make them some great passer and certainly not if your skillset is as a stretch 4....

Gimmie a big guy who can throw those john elway outlets full court like Bol Bol over that fancy, for-the-camera type stuff seen on the Poku footage (there's always some travels in his footage too)..

It's funny right Zach LaVine was hated here for being an "And1" style player, yet we're gonna praise this guy for behind the back passes while he's driving?

YOU KNOW CY was SALTY AS **** watching this Hhahahhahahahahahhahahhahahha

Reminds me of when people were in awe here with Trey Burke's crossovers in highlight packages and then I pointed out that their all against small guards who dont have NBA length or athleticism, and then a select few went back and checked out the highlights again and realized i wasnt making it up....

Do you guys think Poku is even remotely on Lauri Markkanenn's (pre-NBA) level of ball handling?? I think thats hilarious to even attempt to discuss seriously.

Getting a rotation player at 23 is considered a victory. My concern with the AP is his weight. 205lbs is SKINNY, there is no way he is going to be able to man up an NBA PF. I loved his handles and open court ability. His shooting percentages if I read them right seemed really bad. I prefer a more tradition SF who can bring some toughness, defense and scoring ability.

His biggest issue is lateral quickness, because right now he has no prayer in hell at guarding any NBA perimeter player, even on switches. That combined with having no muscle makes it harder for him to have a position in the NBA.

I really like Maldeon, but he isnt nearly as good as Jalen Harris IMO. A good deal less athletic with less burst.
I'll always ride with your guys. But it's wild that I literally never see Harris on any big boards, like even top 50. You'd take him top 15 this draft sounds like?

Big boards are all over the place. He is 20th on The Ringer so for now I'll consider him an outside possibility that he is within reasonable trade up range for us.

Need to fall in love with some dudes in this draft. Someone is going to drop for us.
He's incredibly boring as a prospect to me. Nothing about him jumps off the page other than his size and age. His lateral quickness seems suspect, so I'm not sure I have high hopes for him defensively. Reminds me a lot of Chris Singleton. He's the kind of guy who would really have to impress me in a workout if I'm a team drafting in the teens.

I like Robert Woodard's value much better. He's a guy who will definitely be available in the 20's, and maybe even the 30's/40's. Similiar size, but Woodard is a little bit longer (as far as current measurements go, PW could have grown given his age). Biggest thing is that Woodard appears to be a much better athlete to my eyes, especially when it comes to his lateral quickness. Woodard is a guy who I think could legitimately guard 1-4, not just a switch player.

I'd rather draft Okoro or Williams too, but they won't fall near our draft range. Maybe Saddiq Bey drops near our range, but I doubt it.

The Jazz have done well in the past drafting physically underdeveloped Euros with tools in the 20s and then developing them for a couple years. The fact that Poku is 2 years away from being able to play is what might make him available in our draft range. He should be able to gain 20 - 25 lbs. He's only 18.

An interesting signing yesterday: Justian Jessup signed with an Australian team with an NBA out clause. He is a 6'6" two guard that broke Jimmer's 3 point field goal record in the Mountain West Conference. Best case this guy might have been a late 2nd round pick. He said in signing he wanted to be guaranteed to play games and he didn't think there will many GLeague games, if any.

If you look at the last bunch of 'fringe draftable' players from Nevada, aside from the Martin twins who havent been any good, they've all put up big stats and their draft stock has all fizzled out going into their respective drafts... a lot of those players are high impact x-fers who were primed to fill in obvious big holes in depth chart / and tasked with making and taking lots of shots, Harris is right in line with that...

Marcus Marshall comes to mind. combo guard who could light it up.

Given that they went 19-12 this year... and that their highest ranked recruit ever(5star) Jordan Brown had a disasterous freshman year and then x-ferred out...

I'm hard pressed to believe there's really a stud of a wing player on that team.

I remember Harris from Arkansas though, he's not far off the profile of a guy who could get drafted.

I dont wanna kill the kid tho cuz honestly I much prefer to discuss players in this fringe range rather than the 1st rd players, i truly do believe it's more interesting and there's more info to be gained, the first rd prospects there's kind of a flavor of the week thing that goes on positionally/skillset wise...

Paul Reed is not necessarily the guy with the highest upside or BPA at 23 by any means. But definitely fills a need on this Jazz team right now.

I still feel like we keep 23 and just pick there.

We don't really have the assets to move up.

I think the Jazz like most of their roster so idk how we would acquire a vet upgrade. Ed Davis seems like the only decent sized contract they'd move. Who is out there for around 5 mill that would make the Jazz better and a team would trade for Ed + 23?

The depth of this class is good enough that the Jazz will likely have someone on their board that they like enough that they won't trade down.
I want Ntilikina. He's still only 22, 6'4" and plays great defense. He could replace Mudiay's minutes while also giving us a much needed additional wing defender. We need guys who can help now.

Ed Davis and #23 for Ntilikina and 2 2nd rounders. NY has the following:

2020 #27
2020 #38
Their 2021 1st
2021 Dallas 1st
2021 Clippers 1st
2021 Detroit 2nd
2021 Charlotte 2nd

I would love to get #27 or one of those late 2021 1sts, but I would be happy with....

Davis and #23 for Ntilikina, #38, and Charlotte's 2021 2nd OR Detroit's 2021 2nd.

We drop 15 spots in this draft, but we pick up a very high 2nd round pick next year when we won't have a 1st rounder.

Just take the best combo guard on the board at #23.. I like the idea of trying to add future picks but I dont think the Knicks are the team you're gonna want to go thru to get em...

Also... Just trade up for RJ Hampton or Theo Maledon if you're gonna trade up for a guard like that..... It's nice to have the full rookie deal to figure things out..

LMAO I just realized NBAdarft has Fillip Petrusev over Pokusevksi... I for one, strictly for entertainment purposes, hope it plays out like that.

Certainly the amount of mentions Poku's gotten here compared to Petrusev are 100:1

A funny player for me looking back last bunch of years has always been Dwight Powell from Stanford, who's turned out to be a pretty good NBA player and earned himself a nice deal playing for the Mavs.

If you really look back, Powell was a player who was pretty damn consistent at Stanford, but got basically no publicity/hype whatsoever, projected 2nd rd guy.

He's one of the guys where I felt like in that draft year, people didnt like to talk about him, he was older and boring, perceived as low upside. I think it was clear then that he was underrated, and certainly now with the benefit of hindsight we can see a long list of inferior players who were drafted over him.

The reason I bring it up is; Who's this years Dwight Powell? Could it be the previously mentioned Petrusev?

We could just take the best player and hope to groom him. However, we already have the following guys we are trying to groom:

PG JWF
PG/SG Tucker
SG/SF Oni
SF/PF Brantley
PF Morgan
C Bradley

All those guys show promise. Instead of adding another to that mix, go get a guy with a proven NBA skill that helps us now as we age.

Another massive part of a Ntilikina trade - he is close with both Rudy (France) and Donovan (draft class). Our lockerroom is extremely strong, and I think Ntilikina could come in and fit nicely on and off the court.

Watching Utah in the playoffs I cant help but think how bad they screwed up in the 2nd rd of some of the recent drafts, letting players like Shake Milton and Monte Morris slip thru their grasps.
