Jazz select Udoka Azubuike with pick 27 & trade Tony Bradley + pick 38 to the Pistons

The drafting philosophy of nuggets is how jazz should be drafting. DL sucks, even the star players was drafted by nuggets. I can't stand the nuggets and it's mostly out of jealousy since they have a front office who knows how to win and draft unlike Jazz FO who keep reaching for bigs like bradley and Udoka.
Also ironically Royce, our only modern day 3D on this team, is undrafted FA who impressed quin during summer league. It was Quin who made him into something out of nothing. Just imagine if he had a FO who knows to appreciate the value of 3D players in today's game instead of being stuck in the 90s

Highly doubtful that Mavericks would get rid of him. Just watching the playoffs you could see he is the voice of the team. The way he confronted Porzingas after he got ejected in playoffs was beaut
That's like saying we wouldn't trade Ed because of his amazing locker room presence... its nice to have and is valuable but if we can get a better player or be rid of his contract we will.

I just had
Can’t pass, shoot, dribble, or move on the perimeter. He’s a poor mans Boban. He’s going to be as effective as about 10 players we could get on the open market at somewhere between the minimum and the BAE. We are assuming he will be ready now but he is likely to **** up the offense as hard or harder than Ed in his first year.

Also a budget Deandre Jordan gets played off the floor by round 2 of the playoffs. The move shows how our management can’t be flexible or innovative. We play the same way all the time... even though nba teams have proved they can beat that style in the playoffs.
i feel like the playoffs proved that small ball doesnt work. Or did the rockets win the championship without me knowing? How about the clippers? Celtics? All of them embraced small ball. How’d it work out?
The Lakers won with size, not despite of it. They had 3 legit bigs, Denver had 2, we had 1.

even the warriors relied on bigs like Bogut and McGee to win.

We lost a lot when we got rid of favors last year. I love this move rebuilding our frontline.

also you all know that Udoka pulled a Pat Connaughton at the combine this year, right? he sandbagged his standing reach #'s to make his vertical look more explosive...

and it fooled plenty, givony was tweeting about udoka breaking the vert record for c's
Wilt claimed, and I say "alleged," that he had a 50-inch vertical. It's possible since he could touch the top of the backboard.

We aren't playing big or small. We are caught in between with this 90s old school formula of small guards+defensive center who can't shoot. This formula might work if you have big athletic 3D wings to help us against various matchup. Instead, we are extremely one dimensional that could easily be exploited by both small AND big lineups. Just watch us versus the Rockets and Lakers last season.

So improve upon the wings. You can find decent wings everywhere. Udoka is elite talent. You don’t just find 7 footers that can jump out of the gym like that.

I think the real focus is Conley. I didn’t want Conley. Seems like that’s the elephant in the room that some of you are ignoring. Rather than bash this draft why not focus on getting rid of the worthless aging 4 foot PG we have?

That's why people were upset. We had a shot at improve our wings last night. Might be out only shot since quality wings in FA wouldn't be signing with us.

We stole the 38th pick from the Knicks yesterday by dropping 4 picks only to have them flip it for the 25th and 33rd.
Just my take but I think the Jazz wanted to move as far back as possible for UA and preferred the 27th pick. In any case, having the lower picks would not have altered the outcome. We would still have Azubuike.

What do you call Elijah Hughes? We rebuilt our frontline while improving our wings. Are we still undersized? Yes. But until we unload Conley (or bench him) isn’t that always going to be the case?

But LA won because they sat Dwight and McGee to get the job done against a scrappy and small Miami team.

Denver and the Lakers are outliers with their bigs because they are incredibly unique bigs. Jokic and AD are dynamic offensively and capable defensively. We don't have that.

Last year, Toronto rotated various bigs to beat a team in GS that actually doesn't really rely on a big at all. But we all know they won due to injuries not because they had bigs.

It's a small ball game now. Bigs have roles but can't be the focus unless they are super dynamic.
