[Woj] Donovan Mitchell signs 5/195M max designated rookie extension with the Jazz

According to oneye ‘s sources, the contract comes along with 6,882 different stipulations. And early indications suggest that approximately 110% of these combine into a smoke signal that represents his intention to force is way to the Knicks almost immediately.

For the record - he needs to make ANY of the All-NBA teams this year for the higher max to kick in. If he doesn't he will get ~163M on his contract.

This is great news! Thrilled to watch Mitchell for the next 6 years! Surround him with winners. I expect the Gobert news to come in the next week.

Also, frankly the price is reasonable all things considered.

Go Jazz!

$163,000,000 guaranteed. I love the game but the money is just absurd. Not saying he doesn't deserve it and obviously the owners can afford it but minimum wage is still only $7.25/hour. I think minimum wage was around $5/hour in the late 80's. I saw this morning that the number of Americans struggling to feed themselves has gone from 10 million to 30 million since the start of coronavirus. Sorry to be a downer and happy for Donovan's success but it's just shocking how much disparity there is, especially compared to about 40 years ago.

So, assuming we sign Gobert to a 5 year extension. That makes a 5 year window to win a title. Would we even be able to add any major players to DM and Gobert. How would the jazz build a contender. This is for all the cap guru’s

Agree that inequality must be addressed, but yikes, please don't bring the darkness of GD into this one hehe

Way of the world. Entertainers such as pro athletes and movie stars and singers and such bring in huge money. So in the end I guess they deserve it.

I wouldn’t dwell on it too much
