If he makes an all NBA team this year then he will get the $195 million supermax. So is this contract a super max or most DM could possibly get
Thank you to those that are pointing out the income inequality. I am super happy for Donovan and the Jazz and am celebrating this signing. However this is an important discussion to have, especially on a sports fan forum.
As fans, we should keep in mind that sports are a way of pacifying the masses. The Romans did this many years ago. Instead, we as a society should look at and learn from the players union. Look at the income growth in player contracts from the 1980s to now, and compare that to the (lack of) income growth for 99% of Americans. There is no good reason why our salaries should not be keeping up, proportionately, with the growth in player contracts.
It is great to be a sports fan, but please don’t let your fandom serve as an escape from being part of the Republic. Ours is a nation by the people and for the people, and while we are a million miles from actualizing that it is possible. We can be fans and engaged citizens.
Go Jazz, and Go United States!
I agree.Wtf is this thread? Lol. Congrats to Donovan and let's get it!
I think the BRI clause in the CBA addressed that the contract amounts are adjusted in the case that BRI falls, so these may not be the real numbers the players get. I quit following the CBA and all these fine details. This is just what I read elsewhere, but it sounds right. I would say owners aren't all willing to lose that much money. Somebody spoon feed us a link to confirm or disprove this.Donovan is lucky that he is getting an extension now. I predict in the next 5 years, especially when the next TV deal has to be made, that the profit the NBA is making will be severely reduced. The NBA is already starting to have problems due to COVID. And shoving their political opinions down people's throat are definitely going to heavily impact the next few years. This is most likely why the Millers sold the organization.
The NBA is still a global game where there are only 450 players. That's less than 10 NFL teams. Even if the revenue drops a little, I doubt it goes backwards.Donovan is lucky that he is getting an extension now.
