Best part of this is that Lopo probably hates it.
The "best part" of our franchise center re-signing with the hopes of winning a title here is that the size of the contract might make me upset?
How lame is your life?

It's pretty great because I have the luxury of being able to appreciate the simple joys in life like an annoying jackass being upset online because we didnt trade an All-Star for a bunch of scrubs. The "best part" of our franchise center re-signing with the hopes of winning a title here is that the size of the contract might make me upset?

It is entirely possible Donovan gave Rudy Covid. They got it at the same time.We still don't know what happened in the lockerroom. And if Rudy didn't apologize right away, why does Don have to forgive right away?
I'm a Christian and believe in forgiveness, but nobody should blame Don for being upset at Rudy if Rudy:
A - did something stupid
B - didn't apologize for it
Can't believe people are actually mad at Don for having a human reaction as the 2nd person in his profession to contract a worldwide pandemic illness.

Haha. I guess you don't know me at all. Turns out one of your simple joys is miscalculated. It's pretty great because I have the luxury of being able to appreciate the simple joys in life like an annoying jackass being upset online because we didnt trade an All-Star for a bunch of scrubs.
There is so much we don't know.It is entirely possible Donovan gave Rudy Covid. They got it at the same time.
Perhaps not. Maybe it takes skill. Maybe it takes a bubbly personality. For whatever reason, Gobert is the best, and it helps make our offense run.Takes a lot of talent to stand still and set a screen does it? Gotcha.
There is so much we don't know.
What we do know - Rudy did something in that locker room bad enough that nobody wants to bring it to the surface. Nobody came to Rudy's defense on his actions in the locker room. So whether Don got it hours before Rudy or not is irrelevant. Rudy was the first confirmed COVID case and his actions towards Don and maybe even others were unacceptable.
We are months away from this and it still baffles me that people bash Don for having a very human reaction to a very unprecedented situation.
Can't really sweep this under the rug. Rudy definitely did stuff in the locker room. Whatever he did really pissed off Don for whatever reason. Nobody publicly supported Rudy when it comes to the conversation about what happened in the locker room. But DID Rudy do something? Any links to suggested locker room actions by Rudy?
Or did Donovan jump to the conclusion that Rudy was at fault for his getting the virus when it possibly could have been him that gave Rudy the virus? Maybe Don tried to make Rudy the scapegoat to protect his image. Or maybe Rudy was cavalier and Don had a legitimate beef. Hard to say.
We may never find out what happened but my gut tells me to side with Rudy.

I think this is all coming back to the Rudy vs Don narrative. There's no reason to pick a side, but everybody seems to be doing it. Rudy did what he did and he apologized. Don had a normal, human reaction to Rudy's actions. They are over it now so why do people have to attack one side or the other? Especially, why attack Donovan? He didn't do anything wrong. What??? Behavior about virus was divisive.....in 2020....in politics.....at church.....while shopping.......while just living.....
Welcome to 2020, everyone can name someone was joking around or was louding criticizing the policies...or the opposite -- someone who is a germaphobe and was preaching to everyone. We just happen to see that microcosm of society on our team!!!!
Gobert was wrong, but he did reflect the behavior of the majority of people in what he did. I bet 75% of the posters on Jazzfanz would have cracked a joke about the virus...geez. Forgive, and let people improve and move one.
Also, there was that report that Rudy intentionally went around touching personal items of people in mockery towards the concerns about the virus. That was one of the things for which he apologized. I'm not sure though if that was before or after he was diagnosed with COVID.
I agree that DM reaction was justified but I think the tension between the two was media and fan driven drama that was way overblown. DM congratulated Rudy on his deal and even call out his professional when going through negotiation. I think the two have moved on and so should Jazz nation. There is so much we don't know.

I do not see how it is an over pay when he did not get the supermax which is what he was qualified to receive. Personally NBA superstars are overpaid and even scrubs are when you think about it. However, the system is in place to do so. I don't think just Rudy's contract but many of these supermax guy's franchises will regret signing their guys. 40 to 50 million for one guy. You think Paul George is worth his new contract. Come on. Basketball is a team sport. As a union guy, I think the union has screwed over the majority of the players with the last CBA. People complaining about the money given to Rudy would have screamed bloody murder if Rudy had walked away or signed with some other team because the Jazz didn't want to pony up. The Jazz had little choice so they settled for the middle road extension.Like others here have pointed out - it's an overpay and we might suffer through it at the back end of that contract, but the alternative was probably worse.
Now we have our 2 stars locked in for the next 4-5 years... Lets see what DLZ can do on the margins to help them be more competitive.
On a side note - dow drafting Udoka hurts even more. Wasted pick who will rot in the G-League for the next 3 years unless we sustain injuries.
You spend 1/4th of your post making Gobert trade ideas. You aren't fooling anyone dude.Haha. I guess you don't know me at all. Turns out one of your simple joys is miscalculated.
I'm not upset that Rudy signed this deal. It doesn't upset me at all. It is what it is.
I'm happy to have him back. I'm optimistic about the next couple seasons. I'm wrong a lot and I hope I'm wrong about how devastating his contract will be in a few years. But we will cross that bridge when we get there. My guess is that Rudy's contract will upset a majority of this thread, and maybe even you, by the end of it. We can wait and see.
Go Jazz

Come on man, it was more like 1/5th.You spend 1/4th of your post making Gobert trade ideas. You aren't fooling anyone dude.
I think it was justified because there was a lot of speculation that Rudy wanted to leave.
