"Jazz are NOT the team to beat in the West" Doc Rivers

People talked this way about Denver in the past when they were the #1 seed, and vindicated when the Nuggets lost in the playoffs. Maybe the naysayers are equating the Jazz as a similarly surprising team.

Only one way to prove otherwise...

People don't say stuff like that except to try to amuse or shock the audience. When everyone knows #1 has more wins than #2.

So the league is getting good about the math. When you get over 40% on 3s you beat teams that do less than 60% on 2s.

Until AD and Lebron have been ruled out for the playoffs the Lakers are still the team to beat.

I think you meant the Hawks

Not sure why he cares. He won’t be playing any West teams in the playoffs.

Though this pales in comparison to the patheticness of them just constantly begging for Simmons to get DPOY when there is no argument for it whatsoever. Pretty sad.
He is lobbying for post-season awards for his guys. He knows we have the front-runner for both DPOY and 6th man. So he's trying to build the narrative that we really aren't that good so our guys shouldn't be taken seriously for those awards.

I am actually just amazed we are doing as good as we are. I have thought Lakers, Clips , Suns and any big physical team can knock us out if we get any injury and don't shoot 3s well.

We spread their defense, and go inside if it opens enough, and force defenders to come out to defend the 3. But the Lakers can really beat us on any "bad 3 day"

At 45% 3 shooting, we win.

Unfortunately, he's right. The Lakers were already super talented and now they add one of the best centers in the league, a guy averaging 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds, for just over half a million dollars. It's just not fair. I don't see anyone in the west beating the Lakers in the playoffs if they're healthy. It's almost impossible for small market teams like the Jazz to win a championship in todays NBA and it really sucks.
