It depends on the direction you’re going. If you move Bojan, then McDermott is an excellent replacement.

Props on a super good question here that literally has me torn in two... gonna have to think on this one.

Clarkson for me and it's not even close. Dude uses way too many possessions. So much dribbling and shooting and so little passing. He's an inefficient chucker...took 16 shots a game this season in only 26 minutes, shot 42.5% and 34% from 3, in the playoffs he shot 40.5% and 35% from 3. He also had a net rating in the playoffs of -7.6, only Favors and Oni were worse.

He's also 3 years younger than Bogey, makes less money per year and is the reigning 6th man of the year, so I would think he has a higher trade value. To me it's a no brainer.

The case for keeping Clarkson is he is one of two guys on our roster that can actually beat a defender and create a shot. Also, Bogey is old and expensive, so if the goal is shedding some salary, Bogey helps that more.

I also think Bogey’s skillset is easier to try to replace with a cheaper player or combination of cheaper players. As someone else has mentioned, you can probably get 60% of Bogey with someone like McDermott. I also think the type of two-way players we need to add will eat into Bogey’s playing time more than Clarkson’s.

That’s how I see it. But if Clarkson gets you a better return, then sure, move Clarkson.

But the question was assuming a similar return. I do agree that Clarkson is the more valuable trade piece.

Right. That's why I spent my whole first paragraph giving reasons why I think Clarkson is less valuable to our team than Bogey.

Voted Bogey for some of the same reasons... more money so more potential savings. The question said return is equal but I think Bogey gets you more.

Bogey's biggest benefit is his spacing and shooting. He can get you some stuff in the middle and going to the basket I don't think McDermott can... but it also comes with the price of the ball sticking and he's just a bad passer. If we are going to get better I do think it has to come with a core player being switched out and not just a fringe move. I am a little hesitant because he functions so well as a role player and can occasionally ramp up his usage and get you 30 plus when you need it.

Very tough decision... I have almost talked myself out of it... can we trade them both for a great two way wing instead please?

I reserve the right to completely change my mind here... I guess if the return is the same I'd trade JC and then trade Bojan for a more versatile option if I could.

I get because of age and contract people might lean towards Bogey. However I think Bogey helps the Jazz win now more, I also think people forget how good Bogey was last year before his injury. Bogey also has a longer and more consistent track record compared to Clarkson.

Both players are very well liked by their teammates but I think Clarkson's "good vibe tribe" fun attitude and being a more outward personality probably has him more liked by the team as Bogey is a bit more of a quiet guy.

If the Jazz can't re-sign Conley than Bogey's scoring will be more needed (see year one of Bogey when Conley was out more and playing not as well to start the season as an example).
