If we can just come away with a decent 2nd round pick for Favors I'll be happy. Like late 30's or early 40's. We'll probably end up with mid to late 50's

If you know Batum or Rudy Gay would come for the taxpayer MLE... then trading Bogey into the Knicks space for one of their firsts and maybe their early second is a great move. Let's be honest... FA has begun and many of these guys have a good read on where they are headed.

Its more likely we land someone good with the taxpayer MLE if we open up a spot for them to start. Trading Bogey is probably the smart move if you land some flexibility and something solid. Trade Favs only if the cost to dump him is small.

2022 is the minivan’s year.

Why do they do that to move up 2 spots.
Because they’ve read JFC and know that Favors’ advanced stats show he’s the second best player on the team, one of the most valuable players in the league, and that he’s criminally underrated. And that we can trade Gobert and start Favors. So rephrase the question as to why NY wouldn’t do it and they get to move up two spots to boot.

Read a bit among Pelicans fans (motivated by the questionable report that the Jazz are trying to save money by moving off Ingles or Bogey) that some of them would be happy to send #17 to Utah in exchange for one of those two.

I'd be very surprised if there's anything real to it, but just for argument's sake:

Who would need to be available at #17 for you to move on this? Which of Bogey or Ingles would you move?

I would want Duarte or Garuba available. Or Trey Murphy, even though I'm not personally as high on him. For home run swings, Ziaire Williams or Keon Johnson.

I’d turn around and trade 17 to Houston for 23 and 24. Then draft Butler and Wieskamp.

If you think Ingles is slowing down due to age, you might do this for Duarte, Garuba, Jalen Johnson or maybe Kai Jones. Duarte is the safest. Kai Jones might have the most upside.

Interesting. Maybe Wieskamp could be at least another sharp-shooter to help replace Bogey?

But couldn't you just get him at #30? He's almost sure to be there -- much more chance than that Butler will be at #23. (I'm assuming that if you're offloading Bogey's contract for picks, you wouldn't feel so compelled to use #30 to offload Favors's contract.)
