Let's discuss our Black Friday adventures.

https://news.yahoo.com/earlier-deals-longer-hours-woo-friday-shoppers-050606199.html

It started on Thanksgiving, when Los Angeles authorities say 20 people at a local Walmart store suffered minor injuries when a woman used pepper spray to gain a "competitive" shopping advantage shortly after the store opened.

Later Friday morning, a Phoenix television station KSAZ reported that witnesses say police slammed a grandfather in a Walmart in Buckeye, Ariz., to the ground after he allegedly put a game in his waistband so that he could lift his grandson out of the crowd.

The crowds are good news for retailers, many of which depend on the busy holiday shopping season for up to 40 percent of their annual revenue. To draw in shoppers this year, they pulled out of their bag of tricks. In addition to several retailers opening much earlier than previous years, some began offering to match the prices of competitors and rolling out layaway programs.

We did the midnight thing and got a tablet and some other electronics at pretty good prices. My wife loves the crowds and rushing and challenge of finding those hidden gems. This year one store we visited was Kohl's, where a minor fist-fight erupted as people tried to storm the line as the doors were opened. It cracks me up to see the people who line up early waiting and then the vultures who sulk in and among the cars near the door waiting to try to swoop in and enter the store early with the people who dutifully waited in line. Of course, imo that is all anything BUT a good way to prepare for the upcoming Holiday (at least the Christian one, can't say about kwanzaa or ramadan or hanukkah, or whatever). Ain't no christian charity going on there.

What did you do on Black Friday (or Thursday or Saturday)? Did you find your killer bargains? Did you receive and/or deliver some pepper spray?

I refuse to do the Black Friday thing. What I usually do (and did today) is go into work late and stop at Home Depot and Lowe's on my way. I got a 14 gallon Shop Vac for $29 from Lowe's and a 4 foot ladder (technically the company is buying this one) from Home Depot for $17.

My wide did the black friday thing for the first time this year. We have 4 young children to shop for so she thought it would be fun and save a lot of money. I stayed home wwhile she went out at midnight last night. She didn't even buy anything, line were too long and all best deals were sold out. She said it was a huge waste of time. Myself, I usually get the good online sales on monday. Got some diamond earings last year for 85% off, and didnt even have to put pants on!

I think Black Friday is the most overrated thing since Jake Hypes!

The deals aren't anything that you can't typically get at most holidays. And the rush at midnight... Or 5am... and the crowds and traffic make it completely not worth it.

The day after Thanksgiving should be dedicated to recovering from your Turkey Hangover and maybe raking those leaves that you've been putting off....

The day after Thanksgiving should be dedicated to turkey sandwiches.

I only spent $17 at Best Buy last night. I am so proud of myself. I usually don't have anything specific I'm looking for, but I did try to get the blu-ray player, which sold out before I even got in. Oh well. I just like to join in on the fun 'cause I don't sleep until like 4 AM anyway. So why not? As far as the crazy people go, it wasn't bad at all. I didn't get pushed, shoved, punched, or groped and people actually said, "excuse me"! Total win!

on-line shopping is where it's at. My time >>> fighting traffic and other customers for in-store bargains

Isn't a basic crappy waffle maker like that something like $5 normally? What sort of idiots fight over them?

My wife and her friend waited in line at Shopko to get some stuff for our kids (mission successful) for over an hour. She told me about some Mexicans who showed up late and then proceeded to move up to the front of the line to be with their friend. Some guy behind my wife said something and was told to "mind his own business". Yeah, there is something about the whole black Friday/door busters thing that brings out the best in people.

I always work Thanksgiving night so I'm in the store before the crowd comes in at 5. I have first dibs on anything I want, then stand back and watch the idiots go crazy.

I can kind of relate to the Ebay hustler sub group of the lot, but I have never gone to a Black Friday myself. Crowded shopping is not my thing. I wish I could Import about 1,000 Indian(India Indians) males and let them loose in a Walmart on Black Friday here though. Those guys know how to work through a crowd.

What about our own country's inhabitants? Did you see them swerving in and out of folks with tv's in hand during the Rodney King riots?
