Thoughts on Trading Bogdanvic

I think we have all see it this season. Bogie working to score and not working on boards or on defense. Without Bogie we have enough scoring options with Conley, Mitchell, Clarkson and when he gets back Gay. We need a better defender. So who can we trade bogie for?

The only one I see right now is Bogie for Harrison Barnes with Sacramento. We would would have to throw in draft equity.

I don't see any feasible moves here. We're not going to offer him to a team who's going to give us equal value. The only way you move him is for much less value and if your assumption is that the positives would come from giving more minutes to guys already on the roster.

Personally I wouldn't trade anyone because I think the additions we made in the offseason might just be enough to get us over the hump in the playoffs. But if I was going to make a trade, I would trade Clarkson and move Bogey to the bench to take his place as the scorer off the bench. Bogey's just so much more efficient with his scoring that I would have a really hard time letting him go and keeping JC. I Bogey could thrive off the bench and get more touches because he'd be playing less minutes with Mitchell and Conley.

If there was a snowball's chance in hell that we could get 1) equal value and 2) a solution to our true actual and only unaddressed need: better perimeter defense and 3) a negligible drop-off in scoring and/or 3 pt shooting we get from Bogey, then I would say **** yeah, sign me up, let's trade him.

But there isn't so we shouldn't.

I'm not about to overreact to a few games....but I've also been thinking this trade is overdue. I was hoping something would happen during the off-season. The Jazz have more than enough scoring on this roster while also having significant needs.

I would agree with others that making a trade is difficult, but it's something we should be looking for. As far as realistic targets, I think Josh Hart stands out the most. I understand the reservations about him. Bogey is a better player than him, but I think we could get Hart and come away with some draft capital too. Huge tax savings too if you care about a billionaires wallet.

Throw in a couple firsts too. This is a guaranteed championship like 2-3 years in a row.

Conley-Butler
Mitchell-
O’Neale-Ingles
Lebron-Gay
Gobert-Whiteside

I've been banging this particular drum for a while now. Bogie's been a great pickup, but they likely wouldn't have signed him if they knew they were picking up Conley.
We have plenty of offense, there is still a need for defense and some size, I think. There's going to have be someone to throw at AD, Lebron, PG, Kawaii,
hopefully Giannis, KD, and X number of stars on a deep playoff run. Royce can't do it all (and I'd try to upgrade him too. Maybe package the both of them.)

It's not something that should be looked at seriously until closer to the deadline. But this is the year to swing for the fences.

I've been thinking it's overdue but I hadn't considered the tax implications as well. That's even more motivation to do it.

Also, he's getting old, he'll turn 33 before the playoffs. It would be wise to cash in now.
