Down On the Farm

First comrades, a few statistics to show how the revolution is progressing. Dok is 3rd in rebounding in the GLeague. Butler and Hughes are 12th and 13th in ppg, Hughes and Pedro Bradshaw are third and fourth in three point field goal percentage and Butler is 13th in assists per game.

I think Malik Fitts is already better than Eric Paschall. He certainly shoots better. Paschall isn't that efficient offensively, he doesn't rebound as well as he should, and he's not good enough defensively to pull off the undersized 5 thing. Fitts at least has a natural position at the 3.

He has one huge problem. He was not DM's childhood friend.

Dok gets seriously injured and Butler and Hughes look really, really bad.
Who knows, maybe all the other teams that passed on Butler knew something we didn't. At least he only cost us a 2nd. Oh and he'll cost us another 2nd later when we try to offload him.

But actually as ****** as we've been playing I think we should just start the kid. Couldn't be that much worse.

Butler looked like he really did not want to be playing with the Stars last night. Hughes hustled and just stunk. About the only Stars player that looked decent was Carsen Edwards and he played hard.

Butler will look better when he's surrounded by guys who can play. You could put Mike Conley on that Stars team, and he'd probably struggle. Butler needs a spaced floor so he can go one-on-one and make a play, or so he can be the 3rd or 4th scoring option.

The Bad News Stars did not disappoint this afternoon losing to the Clips GLeaguers by over 30 points. Fitts with 20 points 7 boards and -36 in the box. Carsen Edwards and Derrick Alson had 18 points each for the Stars. Brandon Boston Jr. had 46 points for the Clipps and former Jazz summer leaguer George King had 20 points on 10 shots. No Butler, Hughes and obviously Dok for the Stars. Some folks for the Stars decided not to play D.

Yeeeeesh.

I liked Brandon Boston in the mid-late 2nd round last draft. He's got a lot of upside, obviously. He shot 9/12 from 3pt today. Clippers just bought a pick and drafted him at #51.

For a team that spent 5 or 6 years trying to develop Dante Exum, picking up BJ Boston should have been a no-brainer.

Here's Brandon Boston -- 6'6" guard with a 6'11" wingspan. Not sure how you miss this as a late 2nd-rd pick. He practically looks like a young Shaun Livingston out here.

Jared Butler had a good game down with the stars... had 26/9 on good shooting splits... 3 steals and 2 blocks. He is definitely learning how to play with other good players by being the James Harden of the G League... Jazz is soooooo smart.

In this game Fitts stunk. His stats weren't awful, but not good things happened again when he was on the floor. He sort of reminds me of Eric Griffin and we know how that turned out. Butler and Hughes looked good. Stars lost by 8 after leading at the half.

Hughes keeps having bad misses and bad turnovers. He was invisible in the 1st half.

Butler had a really strong start to the game, but had a couple plays late where he missed or got blocked at the rim, resulting in a bucket the other way. That basically ended the game. Butler is also shooting around 30% (or just under) from 3pt.

Maybe I'm biased towards Fitts, but I thought he was okay. He played decent defense, had a game-high 9 rebs and had some nice finishes. He just missed a couple 3s--one was a last-second flip at the shotclock buzzer, and another he was off balance on a fast break. Nonetheless, he needs to shoot better from 3pt if he wants playing time in a real game.

I think if he wants to get to the show he needs to dominate at this level and I will give him the cavaet that most of the Stars players are awful and it is hard to get your rhythm if you are surrounded by stiffs.
