Down On the Farm

Here is a blurb from last night's game: "Lakers guard Mac McClung was a force, leading the Lakers with 29 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists, notching his first career triple-double and helping the Lakers to their sixth win in their last seven games." This guy was an UDFA after playing three years at Georgetown and Texas Tech. He's had two 10 day contracts from the Bulls this year. Why don't the Jazz scouts find guys like this or Garrison Matthews in the UDFA pile? Is our organization that bad? Is Quin someone that stifles creativity like this as they realize they will never get an opportunity?

So, why can't we give guys like this 10-days and cut them afterwards, like the Bulls? I think you'll find worse teams than the Jazz in the UDFA game.

The Lakers signed him as the UDFA not the Bulls. The Stars this year had no one sign a 10 day contract when Covid was running rampant. That is the sign of suckiness.

Joe Ingles, Royce O’Neale, George Niang, Trent Forrest.

I know it’s frustrating when it doesn’t happen every year, but it’s tough to do and the Jazz have found their share of diamonds in the rough.

Remember when the Jazz used to do that free agent summer camp? Did anything good come from that? Or when they used to bring in dozens of guys to work out that no one had on their draft board?

Royce was one that came out of that. The legendary Stanton Kidd was another. One they missed on was Careron Payne who attended but the Jazz said no thank you.

A miracle win for the ages in OT tonight. The Stars played with only seven players as Alston sat and Carsen Edwards stunk again. Rayvonte Rice (who?) led the Stars with 40 points, Jared Wilson Frame had 27 and Childs had 20 and 12 boards. Tradeon Hollins was the star in OT as he hit a three point play and had 12 assists and 11 points. This is a joke on the Jazz front office that there is no second two way player and they played with 8 guys last night and seven tonight. Come on Ainge get it together.

For Infection: Kris Dunn had a solid outing in the GLeague tonight 14 points on 6-12 shooting and +11 in the box in 23 minutes.

This was on Pro Exposure so it is out there worldwide on the interwebs:
"Rayvonte Rice was on fire, shooting 14-of-24 from the floor, including 5-of-10 from deep. Rice finished the game with 40 points, shattering his previous career-high of 14. Rice’s 40-point explosion marked the first time a Salt Lake City Star scored 40 points in a game since Jairus Lyles scored 41 on March 12, 2019. Jared Wilson-Frame added 27 points as he continues to produce for the Stars. Over the last five games, Wilson-Frame is averaging 23.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists a game. Yoeli Childs, coming off a career-high 31 points and 12 rebounds 24-hours earlier, added 20 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and two block shots. Friday night marked Childs’ fourth consecutive double-double and fourth consecutive game with a career-high 12 rebounds."

Stars lose by 14 on the road to Stockton. It was tight until the last five minutes. Stars played with only 8 and everyone played at least 25 minutes. Childs, Alston and Edwards had 21 points each, Childs had 12 boards and Wilson Frame lead in assists. Macio Teague must be hurt.

The Bad News Stars did not disappoint losing by 13 in Sioux Falls after leading by 11 at the end of the first quarter. Alston was the leading scorer and rebounder with 28 and 9. Carsen Edwards had 21 points and lead the team in assists. The Stars played with 8 players and Zaire Wade played 29 minutes and scored 3 points. Marquis Bolden had a strong first quarter and then had sand kicked in his face by the Sioux Falls center, Yoeli Childs and Jared Wilson Frame were in double figures and played decently but the team just ran out of gas. It's tough playing with 8 particularly when Junior Wade gets almost 30 minutes. The Jazz might seriously consider folding the tent on this clown show next season if this is the support they give them.

For people still looking for that wing that will put us over the top Ty Wallace had 40 and Nik Stauksas had 38 in GLeague games over the weekend.

The Washington Generals er Bad News Stars were plucky tonight losing to the Lakers GLeague by one despite being down 16 to start the 4th quarter. They got the deficit down to one a couple of times in the last two minutes but couldn't get over the hump. The Stars only played with seven players and Zaire Wade started at small forward, played 42 minutes and had six points but he competed. Carsen Edwards led the Stars with 33 points, Yoeli Childs had a double double and led the team in rebounding and Jared Wilson Frame led the team in assists. Every Star that played was in double figures scoring except Wade and Marquis Bolden who is playing right now like a total stiff. I thought he might be a prospect to watch when the year started but nada right now. Derrick Alston really hurt the Stars going 0-7 from 3 and I think every miss led to a basket the other way. The Jazz aren't doing these guys any favors as far as wins and losses.

Man our G league team probably couldn't beat most top high school teams, definitely get pounded by any decent college team. Wow.

The Jazz are letting them suffer. Zaire Wade is not competitive at this level. I thought they might have had two prospect and now it's down to one. It is difficult when they play with 7 or 8 players and Mr. Wade is one of them. The Jazz have a two way spot open and they have not let Forrest play with them. They were so bad they signed two players from the Mexican League and they are their better players.

Saw some hype about Trevelin Queen on twitter. Haven't seen him play, but his G-League numbers sure are impressive. 25/6/4/4/1. Yes that's right, four steals and a block a game. Shoots close to 60% on 2's. Only a 32.5% shooter from 3, but he does shoot 10 of them a game and his shot looks smooth. If we promote Forrest, maybe we can get him on a two way. Played OK in limited time with the Rockets last season FWIW.

think rockets locked him up on a two way already. I was intrigued with him as well.
