Trade deadline discussion

Here’s where my prediction is leaning for this deadline:

We end up trading Bojan and someone to another team for something. We talk about this for about two days and then the trade gets nullified after Bogey’s physical and his finger and he and whoever we traded with him return to the team a la Greg Foster and Chris Morris.

It will be a banger start to the Danny Ainge era.

And then we go to the finals right?

My prediction... we take Kent Bazemore from the Lakers into our trade exception to be our 14th man and we get cash considerations for doing so.

They are trying to win though... I can see why it looks confusing because they suck... but they are under heavy pressure to make the play in so Vivek doesn't set the record for most consecutive years out of the playoffs. They REALLY are trying to win now.
THe proposed deal still makes no sense if Ingles is healthy then..

It was pulled out of the air. I believe Jake Fisher said somewhere it was a deal centered on Barnes... and I'm guessing Ingles being able to play was a plus to the Kings... so that deal would be dead. It may have been Ingles and Royce for Barnes... likely us giving a pick too. I'm guessing that isn't completely off the table but likely less appealing.

Have heard Fisher and Windy both say the Pelicans will be the most active team at the deadline. Ainge needs to get in on that ****. Anytime the Pelicans are active other teams win... lets set up a remote office in New Orleans and see what happens.

If Ainge still has his magic touch he sends JC to NOP and gets a first back. Then everyone sits around confused at WTF the Pelicans are doing.
That would be nice, but I still don't think we are in a position to just dump Clarkson for no value back right now if we truly are "all in".

I know some people will say that it's addition through subtraction, but I don't think Quin or his teammates will see it that way.

You can then use that exception and a little draft capital to get Justin Holiday. Its a precursor to another deal. I think NOP is the most obvious JC destination... then you can figure out the other stuff a little easier.

I think if anyone's getting moved, it's Clarkson.

Here's some sobering stats - I looked up his FG % for each individual game this year he's logged minutes in (50 so far):

- Games where he's shot <50% = 33 (66% of games)
- Games where he's shot <25% = 8 (16% of games)

This would be a bit more tolerable if his defense was better, but we all know that's not his hallmark.

The good news for him is that January was his best month in every metric, but he's still going to have his worst season in shooting percentage in his career.

I am a bit fearful that we'll lose our only bench scoring option seeing as how the Rudy Gay experiment is not working out as well as planned, but I'm not sure how we convince JC to stop throwing up low-percentage shots at such an alarming rate.

If dominos fall like that, then it's brilliant business, but how much would New Orleans give us in addition to taking his entire contract? I doubt they throw in much more than a 2nd or 2. Maybe that's enough to let us turn around and use our exception on a guy like Holiday, but I don't know.

I think it's fair to say that the Jazz have some kind of standing offer for both Grant and Barnes. Ingles + JC/Royce + 1st round pick (maybe some parts moving other places). I think both SAC and DET are just waiting on the best offer to come in before the deadline.

If we are getting either of those guys, I really hope we send Gay instead of Royce. Replacing 1 good one with 1 great one still leaves us with holes.
