What's new

Jazz acquire NAW and Juancho Hernangomez for Ingles, Hughes, and two 2nd round picks.

It was like the year when the Jazz shipped Ronnie Brewer and Eric Maynor for nothing so they could save on the salary and then sign a couple of GLeaguers to take their roster space and then the GM told us what great prospects the minor leaguers were. OK right.
No its not. The two players we got in the trade are better than injured ingles and Hughes. We improved the team AND saved money. Not sure why that is a bad thing but whatever. This is just one of those annual times of year were the same ol folks bitch about everything the jazz did or didn't do. I will happen after free agency in the summer and after the draft as well. Like clockwork.

The Brewer trade was very smart

Have we had a guy with three names before? Besides Enes Kanter Freedom? (I know that was after he left but I just wanted to say Enes Kanter Freedom.) And John Lucas III doesn't count.

And have we had a longer name than Huancho Hernangomez?

Longest name is probably Nickeil Alexander-Walker at this point.

There is a chance that NAW is worse than having an empty roster spot. It’s fine… it’s a stab in the dark though.

Portland really did not want him and his salary for next year. NO forced him into the trade. Zach Lowe and Bobby marks talked about it. Portland made NO waive the physical on CJ so they could speed the deal up to get off of NAW. This is EXTREMELY RARE per Bobby. Especially with a player that is owed 100M like CJ. They didn’t want the transaction to get slowed down and be stuck with NAW.

Not saying he can’t be a player but a couple teams really wanted no part of him. So we stepped in and saved some money… I am very dubious of the reports about how we will play him and they love him yada yada yada. Zach even said Wuin will have a very hard time with how he plays.

So I’m not bitching about what they did. I am bitching that their stated claims for why they did what the did are dubious at best… if y’all wanna drink the kool aid go ahead. I’m fine with what we did… we don’t have a whole lot to do much else. I just hope the play Forrest house and JB rather than stoking Ainge’s ego by throwing NAW out there. I like how we are playing right now and hopefully that doesn’t get disrupted. Mothball NAW until next year… let him see how we play and hopefully he helps next year.

The jury's out on NAW at this point. He needs a strong development season, but he's someone who has shown he can get in the lane and make plays. It took Lonzo Ball until his 4th year to look like a dependable starting-level guard. NAW is somewhere in that growth curve. He should look better in the Jazz's system than he did in NOLA. The Pels have been a **** show for the past two seasons.

Yes, I am going to believe the **** franchise that is Portland was so concerned about receiving NAW’s 5M salary for next year but is completely fine with taking Bledsoe and his massive contract.

Please tell me what players New Orleans has drafted that turned out any good. They are a **** franchise too. No player is setup to succeed there. Sometimes a change of scenery is what someone needs. He’s 23 and has a ton of talent. He was the 17th pick in the draft for a reason.

This is last season. Good speed/burst. Some good takes to the rim. Active on the glass. Some forced passes for TOs. Shooting improves later in the game (looks like 3/8 from 3pt). The game itself, however, is chaotic. There are few, if any, set plays, the pace is frenetic and guys are just jacking up shots.

Ummmm Herb Jones is awesome but cool.

He’s worth a shot but he’s completely theoretical right now. NO is a **** show but that isn’t the only reason he isn’t good. Putting him in the rotation immediately is my only issue. Forrest and JB are more deserving of time… house too.

His stats as a starter are actually pretty good.

17.3 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 2.9 APG, 1.1 SPG, 42.2% from field and 35% from 3 in 33 games as a starter in 32.1 MPG.

My god people we gave up someone who wasn’t gonna play for us this season or next. He’s 23 and was the 17th overall pick in the 2019 draft. Stop acting like we gave up two first round picks for him.

One player lol. How’s their lottery pick Kira Lewis doing? Is he even playing? Do they put him in spots to succeed or grow?
