Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Just watch this video over and over again. It shows two major issues with our system and possibly Rudy and maybe even possibly Don.

The first video, House has Brunson. He's forcing him to the baseline cutting off the angle for a left handed player. Brunson didn't get by him yet Rudy leaves his man completely wide open to "help" on House when House didn't need any help. Kleber drains the 3. When he drains the 3, Rudy claps and yells at House. If Rudy was supposed to switch on Brunson, he was way too late. So when Rudy left his man, it's on him.

The 2nd half of the video shows Don's guy "getting by" Don, but it's clear we are funneling Dinwiddie to Rudy there. I have no idea why we are running that defense there. It's clear that Don is letting him go to Rudy, but the trap is way too late. I don't know if that's on Don or Rudy, but by the time it's closing, the corner 3 guy is wide open. It could even be a rotation issue on Bojan, but it's stupid. Just play straight up defense.

Are you blind?

If you watch that video and you can't tell that Brunson has House completely beat if Rudy doesnt slide and show, you are a ****ing moron.

Hard to tell without complete context of what action leads up to that, but Bogey should have rotated faster. He was a second late (like he always is on rotations).

Gobert is the last person to blame out of the 3 involved in this play.

Jazz could have Gobert stay on the shooter, then Brunson drives for a wide open layup, or he drives to the paint and Royce rotates, in which case Spencer Dinwiddie has a wide open 3 cuz u know Don aint rotating.

Lopo would be really useful to have in a front office.

GM's could ask him for his opinion, and then build a great team by just going with the exact opposite of whatever he says.

Oh god and I just watched the 2nd half of hte video.

If you think we are trying to funnel players by purposefully letting them blow by our defenders so they can get in the paint.....

Wow. Just the lowest IQ on the board by far.

Bruh every coach in the league preaches to let guys get straight line paths to the rim from the center of the court!!! It’s clearly intentional!

Sarcasm off- there are times where you might lead a driver into baseline help if you have half the court sealed off… no coach scheme would be based on giving a guy a straight line path on a drive down the middle of the court… he literally gets to pick how he wants to beat you from that spot. Anyone who thinks that is intentional is lying or dumb when it comes to basketball.

Yeah, but at least stay in the play. Stay on the hip. Get your hand in the passing lane. Poke at the ball from behind. Do something Donovan. He did an "OLE!"

Dude is 220 lbs on a 6'1 frame with a 6'10 wingspan FOR NOTHING.

Well, I told them not do the Conley trade. We see how that worked out.

I said to draft Herb. We see how that worked out.

I said to not re-sign Favors. We see how that worked out.

I told them do not trade Jae. We see how that worked out.

I'm the last thing from perfect, but even a moron like me could do better than what we did.

Oh it was a complete whiff and not part of any gameplan and he ends up dying with no effort. If you get beat that bad you can hustle in rotation to the next guy too.

I can’t tell if it’s effort or IQ with Donovan. There are just too many times when he is completely unfocused. I don’t know if it’s something that ever clicks in either case. If it was going to click I think we’d have seen it more consistently.

If it’s a random regular season game… okay chill here and there but do it enough you have the muscle memory and can rise to the occasion in the playoffs.

It’s the biggest disappointment because that is the thing that is most likely to take him from star to superstar and he just doesn’t have it… and has actually gone to the below average levels even though he has above average tools.

Some players are just built different, and some players are built like they are waiting their time to get to NYC while they stat pad.

The plan was set and we didn't execute.

Don literally takes away the right side dribble so when Dinwiddie drives down to Rudy, he's double teamed on his right side (right handed shooter) with only one option in the corner in Brunson that Royce was not going to leave. I don't know if it's Don's fault or Rudy's fault that Dinwiddie was able to split them. Hell, might be both. Don didn't rush enough for me to close the gap, but the play was there to be made between the both of them.

If Dinwiddie is kept on his left side and unable to kick it out right side, we likely force a shot clock violation.

I just think he may not have it on defense... whether its the endless energy that Giannis has or the amazing focus/IQ like a CP has. In college you can overwhelm guys with tools and athleticism.

I just don't know that getting in a different situation or teammates will change the defense for him.

He took nothing away... he got beat so bad that Dinwiddie got back to his right. When he got beat Dinwiddie is a little off center but you don't think he can finish with the left? This ain't rec league. From where he gets beat if Rudy doesn't step in Dinwiddie can finish with the left or right side of the rim. He throws it to the corner but from where he is he could throw it to any side of the court he wants. Getting beat cleanly down the middle is like the worst thing that can happen on defense... it was not part of the plan.

Would be like someone saying Quin wants guys to take dunk attempts with Rudy challenging... the dunk is part of the plan.

Honestly, I don't think anybody is happy. None of the guys are. Conley is just cruising. Royce and Bojan look like they are trying, but they constantly lose focus. There is no joy in how we play.

If you've played competitive sports, you just know when you are on a team or face a team that's bought in. The guys that want to fight for everything. The guys who are elated by team success. When we beat Dallas in that thriller, we didn't celebrate as much as exhale. It was a stress reliever more than a celebration. And that's the last game we won.

Dallas lined up in a set that had an iso up top with 3 out on the right. So if Don pushes Dinwiddie to his left and to Rudy, Dinwiddie has to hit a very tough left handed shot or floater on the run going to his left.

Like I say often, I could be wrong, but it looks to me like he forced him left on purpose. Rudy is supposed to step in because that's the design. We have been funneling stuff to Rudy for years.

I think Don messed up by not pushing down enough and to Rudy, but the plan was to send him left and to Rudy.

Let me tell you what the plan was... Donovan stays in front... he did not and got beat badly. He didn't take anything away from Spencer at all. He didn't pressure from behind. He wasn't pushing Spencer one way... and Rudy came from the other side to help.

He got smoked... it happens. You don't have to come up with some elaborate explanation how that was part of the plan. It wasn't.

Now Bogey could rotate to the corner then House or Donovan need to rotate but everyone was watching the ball. That should tell you the plan wasn't for one guy to get cooked on a straight line drive because everyone would be, hopefully, getting ready to rotate.

This is the type of stuff that gets you lit up. Donovan straight got cooked and if you can't see that I can't discuss it anymore.

I mean without a screen he got a full step in front and had both sides of the rim available. Donovan didn't attempt to even get a hand on the pass... it was really bad.
