Woj says the Jazz are listening to offers for Mitchell

Simmons is a risk, but I prefer him over having a lot of money tied up in a fairly traditional center. If we couldn’t make it work with Rudy, who brings something exceptional to the table with his defense, why would it be any different with Ayton. Unless it’s Jokic or Embiid, centers seem an afterthought on successfull teams these days, so I also wouldn’t expect it to be easy to trade him at some point.
As mentioned above, Simmons might find he actually likes being out of the spotlights for a bit and when he feels the need to be a young socialite he can just head off to The Sundance festival for a day or two.
Also, Simmons is one of the players I hate most, so it’s almost inevitible he ends up here. When he does, I expect nothing less than a total redemption arch.
The more I think of it the more the human element just makes me feel like I'd pass. I just think we need a clean break and rebuild and having Simmons makes it hard. I'd almost rather have Randle than Simmons... I'd trust Danny to do the right thing.

Would you guys rather have Simmons or Ayton? I feel like either of these two are better bets than Barrett or Herro if I'm being honest.

I'd also love to get those juicy Lakers picks if Kyrie is dealt.

Does Simmons even want to play basketball?

It would depend on what I could spin Herro for. Getting those Suns picks with CP and KD old and an owner that has struggled to have continued success would be much more preferable than the Heat picks.

Simmons is tough though. I think he could be good but also could really prevent a clean rebuild in a few different ways. I think it might be a year or two before teams see him as reliable again. I worry he is completely out mentally and never really loved basketball... but loves attention and money. I just don't know if he poisons the well.

The more I think about it, the more I think Ben is just perfect for where we’re at. He’s a risk…but what is the opportunity cost here? Barrett? Herro? Ben has true star potential. I like getting something more tangible than just picks, and even though he might not want to play basketball again, he has more star potential/equity than a host of picks or either of those players.

If you’re worried about Ben winning you too many games, I’d say that is the least of my worries because he’s been more than happy to sit and Barrett/Herro on their second contracts have just as much potential to middle us out without having the same upside.

I like the Ben Simmons thing. Better premium asset, and potentially better/more picks. The Suns are a great team to deal with if you want picks because they outwardly do not value them, and the bottom could always fall out with Sarver.

You’re probably right. I just really don’t want Ayton, which almost makes Simmons attractive by comparison.

DM to Sacramento for all of teh Viveks.

From my keyboard to Silver’s ears.

Even if the Don to Nets package looks good, I still don’t think NYK gets outbid. I think match/try to match any offer.

Even with this flurry of what ifs, I'd still have enjoyed having DM stay and play here. The thing is, where there's smoke, there's fire. Where there's a wall of smoke and orange lights flickering on the horizon off the mountains... there is definitely a forest fire.
I'm having a hard time seeing a scenario where DM stays now after all of this. I'm 99% on this. It's funny to see the Nets back track and say they would be happy to have KD and Kyrie stick around. Yea, right.

Knicks GOTTA jump on this. This is their chance to turn the fans and the public perception around. I don't think the Knicks get out bid.

I am more excited for this Jazz team now than i have been in the past 2 years.

Honestly? I don't want him to go. . . but it seems like fait accompli at this point.

Last night in my almost-sleep I had a moment of trying to remember if Richard Jefferson ever played for the Jazz. For the life of me I could not remember if he did or did not. So I looked him up and he played here for a year, for the team that won 25 games. That team SUCKED.

Feels relevant to remember that team at this time
