Woj says the Jazz are listening to offers for Mitchell

The more I think about it, the more I think Ben is just perfect for where we’re at. He’s a risk…but what is the opportunity cost here? Barrett? Herro? Ben has true star potential. I like getting something more tangible than just picks, and even though he might not want to play basketball again, he has more star potential/equity than a host of picks or either of those players.

If you’re worried about Ben winning you too many games, I’d say that is the least of my worries because he’s been more than happy to sit and Barrett/Herro on their second contracts have just as much potential to middle us out without having the same upside.

I like the Ben Simmons thing. Better premium asset, and potentially better/more picks. The Suns are a great team to deal with if you want picks because they outwardly do not value them, and the bottom could always fall out with Sarver.
3 years and 120M is the risk... as well as a shadow that hangs over the team if it goes poorly.

He may win you a few extra games, but that means that it is likely working out and he is an asset again. I also don't know if he is really flippable... but maybe. I'm not sure he's a guy I'd want around the young guys we will have or will acquire. I understand the risk/reward and would trust Danny has done his homework.

Knicks GOTTA jump on this. This is their chance to turn the fans and the public perception around. I don't think the Knicks get out bid.

I am more excited for this Jazz team now than i have been in the past 2 years.

Exactly….this is without mentioning that he’s their guy too. Don’s agency runs the Knicks. I don’t think they’re going to let him go no matter what the asking price is.

Tbh, when we traded Gobert and postured about keeping DM I was depressed AF. I couldn’t even post.
Worst case scenario, the rebuild gets delayed a year. The Hardy hiring, jettisoning Paschall and Forest, trading Royce for no players, and trading Gobert for the Wolves' worst matching salary happened in the span of like 2 days and made it very clear that the Jazz are steering the ship towards a rebuild. It's almost laughable people have thought the Jazz's goal is to really build around Donovan.

So, fear not.

Other than Tony Jones I'm not sure anyone actually believed that.

Eff it... I'll do the Simmons deal if we get the Suns picks completely naked for the next 7 years (23/25/27/29 and swaps) then do it. KD missed like 30 games last year... a bunch the year before. Nash has played him high minutes and he is 34 and had an achilles injury 3 years ago. I'd be surprised if he is this version of KD for the next two years.

CP3 is 37 and has soooooo many miles. Suns do this deal and murder their depth and draft assets.... they have a cheap *** owner... they will suck in 2025 and beyond.

Those picks will be better than the Knicks picks... book it.

Would you guys rather have Simmons or Ayton? I feel like either of these two are better bets than Barrett or Herro if I'm being honest.

I'd also love to get those juicy Lakers picks if Kyrie is dealt.

Ayton by a mile. I want no part of Ben Simmons.

I think we’d definitely rebuild, but if we kept him for another season it just felt dirty. I was definitely out on investing any time into the team. The first time I’d felt that way in probably forever.

Since you are doing Brooklyn a solid taking Simmons off they hands and sending Don... we also get first shot at the Westbrook Irving picks three way that will come. We throw some combo of Mike, JC, Bogey, Bev to the Nets/Lakers and get Westbrook and dem Lakers picks in 27 and 29.

We get three top 5 picks in 27 and 29 to add to our already stacked roster and build a mega dynasty.

I was a hard no on Simmons but now am warming up to him:

1) Literally no one wants him, so we could probably squeeze another asset out of the deal
2) Massive upside if he plays and plays well here
3) If he sucks, it means we're abysmal next year and almost assuredly in the top 4-6 of a loaded draft
4) Huge expiring contact in '24-25 and we won't be competitive until then or beyond anyways

We are in a pretty nice position there... Nets want real players and not picks... no one wants Simmons... they have to offload him to get Donovan. He was really good at basketball before a mental breakdown. We are a super low key place for him to find himself again....

****... I think I talked myself into it (all teh Suns picks must come too!!!)

Cant recall if it was a podcast or a SL broadcast, but Donovan has yet to publically comment on any of the Jazz moves and he isnt returning calls. Basically no contact with the Jazz front office.
I think I heard that as well but also thought I saw the Jazz folks say they have been in contact with him (we could be lying fo sho).

Yeah, so maybe not a super reputable thing I pushed, but the dude hasnt made a single comment on any of the Jazz moves and isnt showing up to SL to support the team. He's pretty clearly signaling he isnt invested in the Jazz.

I'm not a person who gives a **** about Donovan being super invested in SLC/Utah. I dont care if he doesnt live here in the off-season or spends next to no time in Utah in the off-season, but damn, show up for SL to support the young dudes ( I mean, you know the dude loves Vegas, he made Utah have the first half of their training camp there last year), make some positive public comments on the new coaching hire, etc. The very basic things that nearly ever star does for their team.

To be fair he probably has known he’s on the way out.

Not to mention all the same **** he did in spades from Day 1 when he was trying to prove himself and get paid.

He's over it.

You’re also going to eventually make large financial commitments to Barrett/Herro. I’m skeptical they will produce what their value is…and if they do, they introduce that fear of stopping the tank.

I don’t really look at Simmons as a piece to flip, although I think that’s a option. I think he flat out has a better chance at being a star player than any of the pieces that are being mentioned. The risk reward ratio is good for us, not so good if you were a team relying on him to win games immediately.
