What's new

On the record...

I can’t wait for you to be wrong (once again) and can’t wait to hear the excuses.

Everyone with a brain knows we robbed the Timberwolves and they aren’t going to be much better than the 4th seed at best.

Cy white knighting for Gobert and Minnesota is pathetic at the highest degree. I honestly feel bad for you.
What's the metric for me being wrong on this?

The metric is they won’t be higher than the 4th seed and they aren’t making it past the second round.
So in that case Cy will offer up excuses, if they finish above 4th and advance past the second round, what will you offer?

People can fan however they want I’m not going to police that. We aren’t going to be very good and if you want to cheer for Gobert by all means go ahead. I hope we get a young player or two in a Donovan deal that we can be excited about watching realistically someone like Toppin/Quickley.

Minnesota isn’t going to be a contender though sorry to break it to you. Watching them will be painful if you think they’re anything more than the 4th seed.

Yes, this is the thread for this, go on the record!!

Lol that’s not going to happen so there is no need to even discuss it. The West is so ****ing loaded this year it was such a bad decision to go all in now.

There isn’t going to be much happening before September anyways so now is the perfect time for a thread like this. Great idea, it is going to be fun bumping this thread in a couple months.

For the record I love the Ant / McDaniels /Gobert combination, but don't love the KAT/ Gobert combination. Is KAT guarding on the perimeter? That could be a disaster.

If I were Minnesota I would be looking to trade KAT, although I know that won't happen.

The West is not loaded. A lot of good teams, but no one is unbeatable. You wait and you might get ****ed if another GSW super team happens.

Is Edwards even a good defender? His defensive stats and ratings are terrible. Russell isn’t a good defender and KAT defending the perimeter isn’t going to end well. Again Gobert will have one decent defender with him and covering mistakes of the others. We know how this story ends we’ve seen it multiple times already.

Ant is a better defender than Mitchell and Russell developed into a solid team defender last year. KAT isn't nearly as bad as his reputation. Most 4s in the NBA are easy guards.

How the **** is the West not loaded???

Golden St (championship team returning)
Denver (adding Murray)
Clippers (adding Kawhi)
Suns (same 60+ win team returning)
Grizzlies (same 55+ win team returning)
Pelicans (playoff team adding Zion)
Mavericks (WCF team adding Wood lost Brunson)

That’s not even including the Lakers if they can figure out a Westbrook trade.

That’s a ****ing blood bath. You are mad delusional.

Yeah, which of those teams is unbeatable? The NBA is never going to have a year where no good teams exist

That is correct but the year where every playoff team from the year prior minus us either got better or is returning everyone is not the year to go all-in.

There’s apt investing advice about not trying to time the market. It’s hard to forecast now, but easy to justify our poor decisions later with “oh, nobody could have predicted that _____ would happen,” or “_______ was a huge fluke that won’t happen again.” You just have to shoot to compete and let the chips fall where they will. We could have absolutely won the championship one of the last two years but nobody in our franchise, from FO to coaches to players, were serious enough to realize that or put it all on the table.

But right now we’re turned on by hypotheticals because they’re just so damn sexy. A guy making $60k can’t support his family, never mind his $15k/year eating out, so he says, “**** it, I’ve proved you can’t make it by on $60k,” and quits his job to spend time in the casino. I mean, the $60k job didn’t work, so he may as well try his luck at something that at least has a higher ceiling. He knows a buddy who left his $150k engineering job and is making twice that gambling.

So you wait until everyone gets injured in the off-season?

I dont get your logic.

I got it when the Warriors had KD. That's different.

There is no team out West or East anyone should be scared of to the point they hold off plans of competing if they feel they are ready.
