Its Time to Tank

People always have to cherry pick teams like ORL and SAC to say we shouldn't tank.

Meanwhile the Spurs tanked exactly one season and ended up with Duncan, so it works both ways.

Jazz don't have a #1 alpha and probably should be in the lottery. If they don't get lucky with Victor they will still end up with a very good player because this draft is stacked. They would still have enough draft capital to make a trade for a star as soon as this offseason. There's exactly no reason for the tank to last multiple seasons. We need some young studs that fit around Kessler.

I think missing Cam Johnson was a bigger deal than missing CP3 for this game. They had to overwork Booker who was pretty gassed in 4th. Can can take some scoring pressure off of him in relief.

But remember we had two key players Kessler and Olynyk playing by far their worst games of the year. They were both just off, and it wasnt anything the Suns were doing.

I'm so very conflicted. My head says tank, but then I watch the games and my heart says win. Before the season I never imagined this team would be so fun and easy to root for.
Me yelling at my tv when we are losing or make a bad play….

My kids “but don’t you want them to lose”

Me “yes… but not tonight damnit… it’s complicated okay!!!”

People keep using the unicorn example from 25 years ago on why teams should tank. Defeats the argument.

Yeah the list of guys we thought were unicorns and who flopped bad is so so so much longer than the list of guys who actually succeeded.

Yet this year we will draft that guy.

Oh and all this despite we have a budding star whose true potential is unknown but who looks like a unicorn on paper and at times in games.

Interesting article from Marc Stein about the Jazz and whether it's too late for them to tank because of their hot start to the season. Definitely worth the read.

As confirmed by Adams' research: Since 1983-84, when the NBA expanded its playoff format to eight teams per conference, 111 teams have started precisely at 12-6.

No less than 101 of those 111 reached the playoffs.

The 10 that fell short, furthermore, won at least 33 games ... while combining to win an average of 39 games. With even a total as low as 33 wins, it would take something stronger than mere good luck for #thisjazz to win the No. 1 overall pick in the lottery in May and have a clear shot at drafting Wembanyama.

The time to tank was before sweeping the weekend back to back I guess. The tank is dead. Just make sure to finish above Minny and push them to the play in or out of the playoffs. Win the Wemby sweepstakes the gansta way.

Tank is not dead. We may be a 50% before Mike back.... worst case is then we remain a 35-40 wins team. Nothing to win in this area....

If we’re gonna tank, gotta trade Mike asap when he comes back. This season has already been a success in my mind, I don’t really care which direction we want to go
