Official Utah/Minnesota/Philadelphia Pick Watch

Minnesota won again today. They are 3-1 now without Gobert.
None of their long-term problems have been solved, but I wouldn’t read too much into that stat. Those games they won without him were against the Rockets, Thunder and Bulls. The game they lost was against the Knicks. None of those teams are world beaters.

I will say, I kinda wish we’d gotten Naz Reid instead of Bolmaro.

The T-Wolves begin their difficult stretch with upcoming Mavs game. If they are swept, I am very much hoping that is the snowball that derails them. Their schedule from here until April is tough. Here is to hoping bc this draft board is driving me crazy knowing we might miss out on a big SF/PF that can defend and score.

They do have the hardest remaining schedule in the league.

Wolves beat the **** out of the Bulls who are slumping hard... they shot the **** out of the ball. So I just think its an outlier game. Lets see what happens now that the schedule turns on them.

The tank watch committee needs to be in full alert right now... Raps, Bulls, Wiz are teetering on the brink right now. Lakers might find something really interesting with their picks if they decide to go that route right now.

This could get really interesting over the next few weeks. Raps/Bulls/Wiz all have interesting pieces... Toronto's pieces are really interesting and I could see them waiting until the summer to figure things out. Bulls should absolutely take the Westbrook and two picks offer for Zach... that contract is scary. Will be curious to see if those teams pick a direction and become buyers or sellers.

Big set of games against the Mavs for the Wolves. Tied with Dallas right now so if Mavs can sweep the games it would be quite helpful. Then they go on the road for games against Boston, Milwaukee, NO and Miami.... Really critical stretch that we need them to flub up so they can go like 1-5 or 2-4 and bring back the toxic vibes.

I love Rudy, but just imagine how much better shape Minnesota would be in both now and going forward if they had just kept Beasley and Vanderbilt, added Kessler to the lineup, and kept their 4 first round picks.
Define better. It almost sounded like you are a Minny fan.

"Better" in this context should means to improves the Jazz' situation.

So, what you should have said is...

Needless to say, this is WAY BETTER than Minny making a different decision last summer.

Hmm… the Lakers giving up two more picks and having that contract on the books may be a bigger boon for watching the Lakers stumble in the long-run than the Westbrook trade was. If it helps them this year, then it's good for the Minnesota pick, too. That may be the trade we need to be praying for in both the short and long-term.

Word around the league (I think Fisher, Lowe and Woj have at least said it) is that Toronto wants to compete this year and wont tank... but instead they want to upgrade.

Michael Grange reported last week that the front office is not intending to break up their 1-4 core even though they are not meshing well, but another beat guy said their FO is "observing the situation" within the current team as well.

They have already discussed with SA about bringing Poeltl back... but not sure where they stand with that.

I think that is the right course of action… that group has a crossroad coming in the next couple years though.
