2023 NBA Draft Megathread

This dude looks legit. Love his size. I'm the furthest thing from a scout, but I wish he got to the line a bit more/shot it better from there, that usually feels like a good shooting projection going forward. But been wanting a 6'7" 225lb super talented wing on this team for so long, so I'm in.
shooting is inconsistent, but he has a solid stroke and almost everything he shoots is contested - so i'm cautiously optimistic on his ability to improve as a shooter. his biggest problem right now, by far, is his ballhandling. that game last night vs depaul was one of his best of the season, but even in that game his ballhandling was hilariously sloppy. the issues with the ball make it difficult for him to create consistently either for himself or others.

having said that, his size and athleticism is elite and that can't be taught. you can improve your shooting and ballhandling. also, Nova's coach is horrible. he has no clue what he's doing so just getting away from him should do Whitmore a ton of good. Also, Caleb Daniels, a fifth year senior guard for Nova and their primary ballhandler pretty much refuses to pass to Whitmore - I have no idea why (maybe jealously or maybe it's just subconscious or something), but I watch nearly every Villanova game and it's real. Watch any Whitmore highlight from this season, you'll be hard pressed to find a pass from Daniels that leads to a bucket in the highlight video. If he wants the ball he needs to rely on other players to get it to him.

I really dont know what to think about Whitmore. @seattlejazzfan seems to have a much better idea of him and his situation. Wouldnt surprise me to see him show more in the NBA than he has in college.

Minnesota’s pick likely ends up anywhere from like 13-18 I think. Still a much better pick than any of us initially imagined.

Minnesota is likely a play-in team, imo. PHX, DEN, MEM, DAL, LAC and SAC are more likely to be in the top 6. T'wolves are going to have to play teams like GSW and NOL in the play-in.

We'll know more after Minny's next 10 games, over which they could easily go 4-6.

He had thumb surgery btw

He's built like Justise Winslow or Miles Bridges. He has an explosive first step on straight-line drives. He has a couple offensive moves, but that's about it. He's not much of a self-creator. He doesn't pass much at this stage. He can make 3s. He's a defensive disruptor. He's essentially a high-end 3D wing who puts pressure on defenses and can easily get over the rim as a play finisher. He's not your number 1 or number 2 option at this stage, imo, but could be your third guy. He brings toughness and athleticism that high-level teams need. Maybe his offensive game opens up and he evolves like Jaylen Brown has. Maybe his sheer power and athleticism enable him to crush dudes in isolation, not sure.

There are questions about his game, but you can easily say the same about the Thompsons and Brandon Miller.

So Jazz got worse and provided they sit the FInnisher Kessler Sexton half the remaining games maybe found the path to a good shot at Wemby.
Especially if the keep JC as the commander.
But they are not sitting those guys , so short of fake injuries this team is still not much better off for a tier one prospect , not this late in the season with the bottom 4 so bad.
I think this trade return is pathetic, given it has little chance of being good, and if they really stink in LAL at that point, the pick is probably in the 30's.
It has no trade value because of the instant turn to a 2nd instead of turning to unprotected like the assclowns on here were so proudly proclaiming. Great sources gents smh

i do think his game is better suited for the nba than college - especially on that villanova team with a terrible coach and an offensive system that doesn't do anything for him.

My question is: how do we work WK with Vic and who else do we get with the Minny pick and 6rs pick to pair best with this group?

Sennsagaugh or Hendricks with the Minny pick and Hawkins (shouldnt last this long) or Hood Schifino with the late pick?

Lots to think about after we get Vic.

He's not a coach anymore? I completely missed that.
yeah, their coach is a guy named Kyle Neptune. they are sitting at 10-13 - and they are very talented with a ton of veterans. Jay Wright would probably have them at 18-5 at worst right now - they have almost everybody back from last year's 30-8 team, plus added Whitmore and another really good frosh in Taran Armstrong.

Kyle Neptune is the name of a dude that puts on club nights on the North end of Las Vegas. Probably.
