Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Exactly. We were both talking about how bad both of those trades were as soon as they happened. Turns out they both were really ****ing bad. Guess we don’t carry DA’s water on every deal and just judge each deal on their own. What a concept.

You know who defended both of these deals? Cy. That is why you do not want to be on his side of anything. Dude is wrong about so much **** it’s almost scary at this point.

We are very clearly going to tank... we clearly wanted to open up all the possibilities that come with that strategy.

Not true at all. By far the best (and logical) tank move would have been to flip Lauri, one of the best trade assets in the entire league this season, for an absolute king's ransom.

For some reason DA decided he'd rather watch Markkanen's value decline as he keeps losing with the rest of the dudes we have left.

Again, I think you are completely incapable of seeing nuance in anything.

I never called any of those deals amazing or great. THT was worth exploring. KO made the team better and helped the team develop a great style early on in the season.

THT was not worth exploring and he’s going to opt in for next season which myself and HH told everyone would happen.

He's worth exploring and that 10 milly he's owed is good for the Jazz for trade purposes.

You are really insufferable. Everything has to black/white and right/wrong for you.

If we were going to tank, we should've started that process in October, not in February when we're at .500 and our absolute best case scenario tanking wise isn't even bottom 5.

Jazz needed the right set of circumstances to get something for Conley in a trade. There wasn't much of a market for him, and the fact that the Jazz manufactured a market with the Twolves and got a lightly protected pick from the Lakers is pretty decent. Jazz read the landscape and got what they could. Vanderbilt is really only worth a late 1st or 2nds, as much as everyone speaks highly of him.

The only trade that I'd criticize is the Bojan trade, but the Jazz wanted to move him before training camp.

they did get garbage value. but the point wasn't to get value in return. Ainge would admit the value they got back was garbage. the point was to shed salary and tank - he accomplished that. anything they got back was gravy.
If this was truly the case why not sell Clarkson for 5 2nds?

The Jazz didnt really manufacture anything.

They got lucky the Lakers wanted D'Lo and they got lucky the Wolves were OK with taking Conley back.

It seems like Pelinka had DA bent over his knee tbh. DA talked a big game and the only reason he came out slightly positive was because the Wolves saved him (for a price).

The trade deadline kind of sucked for the Jazz.

We did a half-measure tank move for a decent asset but we gave up a ton while the Lakers barely gave up anything to dramatically improve their roster.

I doubt there was much to be had, so I'm not mad or anything. I'm not upset, it's just anti-climatic (most deadlines are).

This was supposed to be a seller's market but somehow the buyers walked away like rooters in a riot.

With only 27 games remaining, it doesn't matter if the Lakers upgraded their roster. They're going to finish with 40 or 41 wins and barely make the play-in, at best. Meanwhile, we get to trade places with them in the draft order. And they gave us a nice FRP on top of it.

And I think DA made a mistake not selling someone like JC for 2nds.

2nds have value now that teams are really holding onto first, or actually dont have any because only 1/3rd of the NBA has tradeable first rounders.

Why not get a hoard of 2nd rounders and further the tank?

no idea. i my opinion they should have. maybe they had compassion on Lauri and didn't want to leave him completely high and dry. perhaps they wanted to tank, but still be able to compete. maybe they like having him around for other reasons. who knows.

Ehh, they are 4.5 games out of the 6th seed and they have a pretty easy remaining schedule. I think they will get one of the advantageous play in spots at worst, 6th seed at best.

So you had the Jazz sending Mike Conley to the T'wolves, while playing the Lakers for a FRP on your bingo card?

If the Lakers go 18-9 the rest of the way, I'll be thoroughly impressed. That will net them 43 wins.

Pretty meh trade deadline for the jazz. I'm glad we cleared out some guys that aren't part of the future, got a first, and made a decision which direction the rest of the season is going but they should have done a little more. Oh well, I hope we have a solid draft, FA, and make some trades before next season.
