The rule is you never overpick a prospect who only plays well in the regular season but chokes against the pressure, And yes you never overvalue really good play by someone in a couple of tournament games if in fact their regular season production was meh. So Harrison Barnes is a prome example of someone who is a solid NBA player that also choked on the big stage and did it again with the Warriors.Yeah. I don’t really read too much into a prospects tournament results. You’re still drafting those guys that high because of their upside. In person interviews, workouts, game film and eye test.
It works both ways. Miller is clearly overrated being seen as a top 3 lock, or he would have taken the bull by the horns instead he couldn't , it was obvious he had no answer when they needed him most he choked bad.
You don't hold that against him as a scout as it pertains to proven skills,fine. But you do have to assume it is a red flag not performing well under pressure, which often equates to early playoff exits on the horizon with him as your first opt.
I would not draft him at all, I think he is given far more credit than he deserves for the Bama teams success and never enough blame when they lost
