2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Couple of interesting things from Vecenie…

Has talked to some evaluators who have Miller over Scoot. Both didn’t finish their seasons strong at all.

Some have said they could see Black going as high as 5. Said he might be the smartest and most reactive player in the draft.

Walker might have the highest defensive upside in the draft outside of Wemby.

Hendricks is the one player most scouts say will go higher than he’s projected.

Wallace is ranked anywhere from 8-20 by evaluators.

There might not be a better fit for Dick than Utah.

He is not as smart of a analyst as you think. He thought Toppin was going 5th as well smh his valuations are no better than Chad Ford's . I hope you pay for that garbage crap they pushing over there. sucker

If this holds true Wallace may be a better value than Black. I love Black but the Jrue comparison with Wallace has me intrigued. He’s got some Marcus Smart to his game in that I watch for 5-10 minutes he’s fairly anonymous… then he has a 2 minute spurt where he does like 5 things that are pretty awesome. He’s just one to kind of overlook a bit and the shot form/percentages are pretty good. Definitely has some defensive chops and i think he has that dawg in him.

We are guaranteed at least one of Black/Hendricks/Wallace which is a good thing I think.

As long as we stay at 9/10... I think it is a good thing.

I think if the board fell the way Vecenie had it I would have gone Dick/Bufkin/Sidy. He had us in the 12 spot. If we can't get Wallace or Black I think Bufkin is the best bet and should be above George and JHS. Give me Hendo/Bufkin and whatever french wing is left at 27.

Given where the Jazz's picks look to be landing and how other guys have looked, I'm okay with Cason Wallace, Gradey Dick, Keyonte George or Taylor Hendricks depending on which direction the Jazz want to go. To miss out on Walker and Whitmore by one or two picks has to be driving Danny Ainge *******.

I'm having a hard time with Anthony Black still. Physically and statistically, there's some similarity to Dyson Daniels whom I liked last year. However, I think Black is a defensive-minded 2/3 rather than a primary on-ball guy. I'm looking at his shooting splits vis a vis Daniels and Mathisse Thybulle. I get that Black is an explosive driver, but otherwise I'm having a hard time with his shooting touch for a lead-guard role and top-10 pick.

Speaking of Mr. Wallace. I have less concerns on the shot than I do about the playmaking. My gawd... the defense... you telling me Walker is covering the rim with this pest running around doing ****. Remember when playing in Utah was going to the dentist. It looks like such a pain in the *** to handle the ball around Cason.

Bufkin will only be 19 on the day of the draft.
He looks like Keyonte George, but if the ball went in more and the defense was good. Even if we got Wallace or Black I'd advocate for drafting him... think those guys might actually make a pretty good backcourt.

Hendricks or Wallace who you taking?

Right this second... I'm going to say straight up coin toss.

My issue is pg is a position of need and I'm not sure how we address it in the medium to long term. Take Wallace and find a stopgap vet? Just roll with Cason, Kris, THT and live with it.

And this is why I'd try and see if I could move up in the draft (does not have to be Ochai) An asset poor team like Dallas (if they end up 10th) or LA might bite on the Minny pick plus one more pick type of deal. Its a lot... but if you came away with Hendo and Wallace no one would ever score a basket on us again... ever.
