2023 NBA Draft Megathread

yeah, not sure i agree with that having seen both. but not going to argue as it's impossible to prove one way or the other.
I mean... they're identical twins. Like, unless Ausar has had some kind of significant injury that Amen has not then their athletic ceilings are basically the same.

Maybe Amen looks more athletic because his entire game is predicated on it? I'm sorry, the comment just makes vanishingly little sense to me.

Quick random trade idea. If we are at #9 and Whitmore is available at #7 (I doubt it) I wonder if we could kill two birds with one stone and move #9 and Ochai (or a pick) for Morris or Wright and #7. They need to drop a little salary. I'd prefer Morris but Wright is a nice stopgap PG. Depending on Wright's perceived value maybe #9, #28 is enough to get Wright and #7.

This type of thing is exactly what I mean when I said “a conservative trade”. I think the Jazz could maybe land Whitmore or likely Hendricks in this manner.

I'm not saying Cam won't be a better player or doesn't clearly have a higher ceiling. But the odds Cam Whitmore is as good his rookie year as Ochai are not very high. It is rare for rookies to even be decent players. Giving up what you know to be a very solid young piece to move up two spots in the late lottery is not a move I'd be a fan of.

E: And a Morris twin and Delon Wright (even if he's from my alma mater) doesn't really change my thinking.

every pair of identical twins in the NBA ( in recent memory) has had some kind of level of difference in athletic ability. It's not a huge thing, but there are subtle movement differences between identical twins.

Amen's level of dexterity/nimbleness is just a notch above Ausar's. It's most noticeable on the jump stops and euro steps Amen does vs the ones Ausar does.

Ehh... I don't know. They're not literally the same people, and sure, little differences exist. Of course they do. You referred to the difference as "another level" which just doesn't make sense to me.

Duke must be angling for a center in the transfer portal. Their highest rated recruit (a 6'8 forward) just backed out after the Flip news. Doesn't really make sense for him to back out if he didn't think Duke was getting a new 5 that would keep Flip playing the 4.

Heard a rumor Daron Holmes or Hunter Dickinson might be going to Duke.

Monte morris… not a Morris twin. Just to clarify.

Also it just depends… trading good for great (if you believe it can be great) is something I’d be doing. I’m lower on Ochai than most… it’s not about two spots… it’s about the player. Sometimes you pay a premium to move up. If Whitmore is gone I am not all that interested in a trade to 7.
