2023 NBA Draft Megathread

A 1st round pick hasn’t been sold for straight cash in probably 15 years. I think the last time it ever even factored into a 1st round pick was when the Jazz traded a 2nd in addition to the maximum amount of cash allowed for Gobert 10 years ago.

The Jazz are not trading it for cash.
Are you calling me old? :D

FYI in 2013 a first round pick was sold for cash. It ended up being Rudy Gobert. 27 for 46 and cash.

Because he's much cheaper and doesn't have that gnarly thumb? Pretty easy call. Collins kinda sucks lately.
That and he might be better at the two things you want from Collins. Plus it happens every year that we put limitations on these kids and they end up showing much more.

That said I’ve been an advocate of trading for Collins if it comes with a 28 for 15 swap… in that case draft a pg or wing at 9.

Lol. And if I can get the bull **** free, 8-years younger version of John Collins for about $20 million less a year that sounds like a great pick.

Honestly I don't really see the Collins-Hendricks comparison. I guess they are similar in that they can't create for themselves, but beyond that you could make the case that JC's biggest question mark is TH's biggest strength and vice versa. That might be a little dramatic, but JC is an ELITE finisher around the basket in the half court and TH is kinda iffy. TH is one of the more promising shooters in the draft and JC's shot is one of the biggest things holding him back right now.

I also see JC as 4/5 defender who is physical and tough whereas TH struggles a big with physicality but is more suited to guard wings as a 3/4 defender.

Doesn't it get tired holding onto an act all the time????
We really don’t want Cy on the bandwagon… he was pumping GG and that dude is now looking at the second round, loved Bobi Klintman and that dude headed to Australia, real worried about the hat may happen to JHS. Let’s just keep Cy away from Taylor.

Haha.. good call.

Yeah what's with the Cy Jinx this year?????

I went through a couple different ways I could see 4-9 shaking out and I think the two most likely consensus top-9 players who could be available at 9 are Ausar/Jarace.

Orlando at 6 and Washington at 8 are the big wildcards that will change the draft based on their picks.

I think Hendricks at 7 and Black at 8 make the most sense for both teams currently.

There is a possibility Orlando could take Hendricks or Black at 6 though.

Basically this. No idea which way Orlando/Washington would go. Came to the same conclusion that Ausar or Walker were most likely to slide. Taylor will fit more places.

You could make a case for Hendricks as high as 5 but I really think his floor is 7. If he doesn’t go 7 I think we have a good chance of getting him as I don’t see WAS taking him. Black is getting some chatter at 4 but I think 6 is his ceiling with a slight chance he could go 7 but I think his floor is 8 unless WAS decided to go with Ausar if he was there or something like that.

There is a scenario where Cam falls to 6 and we do 9 plus a future 1st for 6. Orlando takes whoever is left out of Hendricks/Black/Jarace/Ausar at 9.
