Potential Trade Targets

If we are on track for the play in that’s like the floor of acceptability as far as win now. By all means go get the 6 seed.
I think Kings and Mavs will slide unless they make good moves before the DL. Suns are likely gonna pick up the pace.

Thats just a hunch based on watching few of their recent (non-Jazz) games.

I think Houston slides… I don’t think we catch Mavs or kings unless they have a major injury. Phoenix is always one injury away from strugglesville. I think our best case is like 8ish.

We have the 4th hardest schedule left. But Phoenix is the hardest and Phoenix Lakers are just behind us.
I don’t know if those models accurately portray SOS for us. We are so good at home and have a home heavy schedule.

Swaps in 25/27/29 are insanely valuable since we have 3 or 4 picks we could swap with. I would rather have a swap with little to no protections than a top 10 or lotto protected pick to add to the coffers.

If you're after good picks, sure. If you're after using picks to trade and upgrade the roster then no.

That’s just not true. You can trade the swap rights and on draft night when you see that you turned the 29th pick into the 11th pick you can just move the 11th pick for a ton more upgrade the roster value.

I also think we are likely to hold and use the majority of the picks… so either way. The way we will get most of our stars is through the draft so I’m keeping a lot of those.

I don't think we'll use very many of the picks. You can't have that many young players and try to develop them. Look at the struggle this year, then add more next year and the year after while still trying to develop this year's guys. It also doesn't seem like a DA thing to do as well, nor what he's implied.

Being able to trade swaps has nothing to do with being more valuable in upgrading your roster through trades. Teams definitely value more 1st round picks in a trade even with restrictions than swaps.

I don't think any will turn into jumps that big. Things change when you're giving up your pick in the lottery. But crazy **** has happened.

I would just low key focus on top 100 players and depth - we are winning so why not. Keep the salary low and not burn the picks unless a deal happens.

IDK when DA had a pile of picks the only time I remember him moving them was in the Kyrie deal. I think we make a lot of the picks. Just like OKC you are gonna have some Williams, Chet, Wallace picks… and some Poku, Mann, Bazley picks.

I think having swaps with the picks we can trade it makes those picks more valuable in trade. If a team can get our 2025 picks from Minny and Cleveland and it comes with the right to swap the least valuable pick with say the Warriors pick it just adds a ton of value imo. GS is the main team I’d be trying to do this with… and currently they’d have the 11th pick in this draft (if they hadn’t traded it) Minny would be 29th… I’m not sure teams would make these deals where they give swaps but it’s easier to get done imo as it won’t have them restricted by the Stepien rule and will be seen as not as big a deal as trading a pick outright but could be just as valuable.

Restricted picks will land you guys like Royce O neale. When OKC traded up for the 11th pick a couple years ago it cost 3 other firsts with restrictions. I just think swaps could be a market inefficiency I’d be pursuing in lieu of second rounders and maybe wouldn’t try to force teams to give a first… it’s an in between type measure that could bring some nice upside… shrug.

Any indication he is even available?

No. But I’m trying not to rehash media talking points, most of which are garbage, and utilize common sense. Teams who are out of playoff contention are typically the ones willing to trade good pieces and they do so for differing reasons. To save money and/or reset and/or gain draft capital and/or appease an unhappy player, etc. The Nets aren’t good. They don’t have any super young players that lead any rational person to believe they’ll suddenly become good or close to good next year. At some point, it might make sense to trade Bridges and get some strong draft capital (and maybe Hendricks, etc) to tank for this draft, and more importantly the 2025 draft and beyond.
