What's new

Off-Season Rumblings

I think they have less options than they did a year ago since they are both farther away from being good (they were legitimately bad down the stretch, far worse than the previous year) AND have fewer liquid assets to build/play with. And the half-assed tank in ‘22-‘23 in particular really is borderline unforgivable.
I mean we didn't have the two extra picks we are using this year before the trade deadline and we used last year's picks pretty well. They have more value now than they did as picks. Not sure what you mean by less options. . .

I know rookies as a rule are not good but our rookies weren’t exactly sterling (one all-rookie team selection out of three picks which is basically the odds of a first rounder getting on one of the all-rookie teams).

I tend to think unless you hit really well that the value of rookies vs that of a pick is like the value of a car new vs just driven off the lot. I know I think of other teams’ rookies that way. And I know I still have real questions about how they all develop.

Also it's funny to me how low a lot of people are on this message board about the Jazz. For me I haven't been this high about the Jazz since we beat OKC in the playoffs. I feel like we're in a really great spot right now.
This. The doomers are definitely loud in here when in reality they dont even have a proper case to make.

Impatience is why.

I’m not down on them but I hate how they’ve handled the last two years.
Option A: They manage to build a contender using current key players.

Option B: they dont get the guys they need and pivot to proper tanking.

Had they committed to B two years ago A wouldnt be possible. However if they decided to commit to B now they would do it with even more riches and with young prospects already growing on the roster (at the start of 2022-23 they didnt have that).

So at the very worst they have only wasted time these past two years. That is the cost of keeping their options open.

Y'all we will have to pay players big contracts at some point, the cap is rising. Got to let go of the sticker shock

The GOAT Mario Hezonja is looking to make an NBA return. He actually became a good defender in the NBA but couldn't shoot for ****. Was a great shooter the past two years for Real Madrid. 29 years old, worth a look?

Why not. We suck and have to take chances.

He re-signed with Real Madrid I thought.
