We’re really betting against Bilal taking a massive second year leap? Did you see his workout video?I hear what you are saying but there are some laws that are undefeated… never bet that the Wiz will exceed expectations is one of them.

True, but they’d basically be back where they looked to be headed preseason 2022 - minus Conley, Olynyk, Vando, Beasley, NAW, Fontecchio and Lauri. It's going to be very difficult for our young guys to look good at all without Lauri.
This team without Lauri will be very difficult to watch aesthetically.
You forgot about Kenny. LOL yeah tanking isn't for the casuals. Good news is you can watch the games the next day instead of staying up late to watch them. The result will rarely be in question. It's going to be very difficult for our young guys to look good at all without Lauri.

I agree. I also think that if you trade Lauri, you use your available cap space to sign some veteran guys to short term high dollar contracts to be stabilizing forces around a young roster. Guys like Kris Dunn, etc. But then you PLAY the young guys the bulk of the minutes.I'm very excited about the 2025 draft, and so I get it.
I don't think our our 2023 and 2024 draft picks will be able to develop as well without a guy like Lauri.
The latter I do think is a valid concern. I'm a big advocate of developing your prospect alongside good players, and Lauri has a lot of aspects to his game that help them develop, including being a low usage guy who doesnt hog the ball.I'm very excited about the 2025 draft, and so I get it.

I would absolutely prefer to keep him and build this young core around him - hoping to get lucky in a trade, signing or pick that opens things up to a contending window. We look at Mitchell and Gobert now, but they were the 27th and 13th picks in the draft. And they were clearly the lead dogs on a team that was flawed, but extremely successful. The latter I do think is a valid concern. Also with his humble team first attitude and hard work ethic he is a great exemplary star player to learn from.
Good thing about this ordeal is that there is almost zero pressure in dealing him.I would absolutely prefer to keep him and build this young core around him - hoping to get lucky in a trade, signing or pick that opens things up to a contending window. Bogey would actually be a great guy to bring back for this purpose.I agree.
