Does Lauri Get Traded?

Does Lauri Get Dealt Before The Season Starts?

One thing to consider is who will be the team leader if you trade the winning vets?

I would be worried about culture if Key was the best player left behind.
Collins or sexton or whoever is left. I think we are keeping Lauri. So also him.

I'm getting the feeling Lauri does the R&E and sticks around to play with all the kids. They are probably stuck with both JC's for another season due to bad contracts and Clarkson's horrible season.

That basically leaves Sexton+Kessler to be potentially dealt. With the upcoming '25 draft this is not the season to get cute by winning a few extra games for the sake of acquiring an additional highly protected pick at the deadline. Just a thought but the Lakers desperately need a center and some athleticism in their backcourt. They have picks and swaps to deal along with a bunch of tradable salary. It's not enough to meet Ainge's demands for Lauri but they have enough assets for Kexton. Ainge has also dealt with the Lakers several times recently for THT and then again in the Conley/Vando trade.

If the question says: "If we trade the winning vets" then "winning vets" is not really an answer.

I am interested in how you feel about that hypothetical though.
I don't think its possible to trade them all... may not even be able to trade a couple of them? So I'm not too worried. If you traded them all I don't mind Key being a "leader" but Hardy would likely take up that mantle even more than he does now.

I also think the middle class of player is being squeezed a bit in trade and dollar. So big premiums for premium players but others like Ingram have no market. So I wonder if the return on guys like Kessler and Sexton would be really poor. Like I would have though DFS and Cam Johnson would have been moved but nah. Young and Ingram had no interest and Lavine is seen as a big liability.

To some degree I think Ingram and Lauri are holding up the market, but I agree this could be happening.

Do you think the hypothetical of trading sexton, Collins, Clarkson, and Lauri happens? What do you think the odds are on that?

But ya if it did happen then I would have to go with Keyonte as the leader. Or just Hardy.

Though if we traded all 4 of those dudes then odds that not a single vet comes back to us in the trades is also pretty small imo

So with odds that low I wouldn't really worry about that hypothetical

I hadn't really thought about the nets since the Bridges trade but it is kind of surprising that we aren't hearing anything about DFS and Johnson being shopped.

The Knicks have those two fake firsts, they have the Nets 25 and 26 second rounders, they can still swap 2030, and they have some other seconds. I feel like they can make it work.
That’s certainly a pile of stuff. I think I’d try the Atlanta deal first if they want to offer all that and we run out of tank options maybe.

Might be able to use some of that spare change to offload Collins next season if we need space.

Trading Kessler for seconds in order to lose more is moronic. Danny isn't going to do that. He's 22 and one of the best rim protectors in the league. You would be better off giving up something to drop Clarkson because you are going to need to use assets to replace Kessler down the road.

Definitely a pile of stuff, but enough stuff to push ATL/NOP to put in real stuff.

The DET pick ain't bad btw. I think they will a decent team going forward now that they have a coach who isn't purposely trying to lose and get fired by spamming Kylian Hayes. They have quite a bit of depth and a bunch of vets in a ****** east. I would actually bet on that pick conveying as a mid first at some point.

Worst case DA needs to continue to string these guys along because disappointing Knicks fans is real fun.

Paul Pierce was 30 when Ainge made the big 3 Celtics, after years of "wasting his prime on tanking Celtics teams", a story I'm sure Ainge has mentioned to Lauri. Shai was younger, but bided time on a tanking Thunder team.

IDK, it must be frustrating for Lauri being the most tenured NBA player to never make the playoffs, but he has his reasons. He obviously wants to win and is a competitor

How in the hell Lauri can win and compete to staying to Utah Jazz when everyone knows winning is not the goal right now and ''player development'' is the main priorty.
Lauri will be about 30-35 yrs old when Jazz are ''ready'' to compete and win. Or do you have idea / ideas how Jazz turn playoff team in next 2-3 yrs.

And who are those proven / proved big names who have showed interest to join Utah Jazz so soon as possible.
Please name to me 20 TOP10 win now allstar players in NBA who are ready and interested to accept getting traded to Utah Jazz without veto etc rights.
