Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Long thread on Noah Penda, tough defensive wing with enough offense to contribute a bit.

I don't have a super strong opinion on Penda because I've only watched the 5 or 6 Cashiggy videos on him, but from what I've seen I haven't been impressed. I don't think his defense translates to the NBA because I don't think he's athletic enough to keep up with NBA guys.

He's OK, but not in my top 30 currently.

Video is split up into sections:

0:14 Shot Attempts
34:26 Rebounds
55:15 Defense

Back half of the video looks to be all defense. Someone can correct if I missed a section or 2.

His offensive footwork looks good (if a bit awkward on occasion) even if the finish is sometimes suspect. I like the willingness to try some of those moves.
Would like to think that it will look smoother and that he will finish better with more experience.
Thank you, very much appreciated. I will definitely be skipping the majority of the 20 minutes of rebounds, lol.

I was able to watch a little of the defensive highlights and while I'm very intrigued I have to say it's difficult to get a good read because the level of competition is so low. He definitely sticks out in a good way for being able to move at his size.

I think Joan Beringer is probably gone by pick 25 (I think he could have a meteoric rise), but if he’s still on the board then, I’d be happy to trade Sexton to Orlando for that pick.

I will just generally add that Kessler is just a little too basic for my tastes in the longterm. Kinda scared he might crumple in the playoffs and he has got to be at peak value (not ability) right now.

Nothing new here on Tre Johnson, but I have to admit, seeing it all together makes me slightly lower on him:

the stage of the draft where we start to overthink everything. at the end of the day he averaged 20 ppg on 56% TS in the toughest conference in cbb on a team that had nobody else who could score so was the sole focus of every SEC defense he played against.

I get the idea behind “don’t overthink it”….but I also don’t think it should really be used as a shield for everything. It doesn’t take much thinking to see flaws with Tre. If you value things besides shooting/scoring, they will be front and center.
