So Memphis gave away Huff for a second round pick and a second round pick swap... and I know this is like a minor deal but I kind of love it for Indiana. Dude is good and cheap and bigs were expensive this offseason. Not signing Turner helps a lot with their cap situation and they can dip out of contender status for a year while Haliburton gets better.

Huff may only be able to be effective in like 15 minute roles but still... at the minimum for 3 more years in a cap strapped environment. Not sure why someone didn't offer Memphis a bit more.

He dethroned Kessler as the best backwards dunker. Can't believe nobody offered more when he's locked into that deal.

Like Luke Kornet out here getting 4/40M (I think like 25M guaranteed but still). He may end up being like 75% of what Turner was at 1/10th the cost. Also is shockingly fun to watch. Memphis really isn't that locked in at center either with Edey needing surgery.

I think you underrate Kornet, but the point still stands.
 
Ryan Rollins was another under the radar signing. I actually found him to be incredibly annoying to watch in SL/tanky settings, but he played really well for MIL last year. 3/$12 ain't bad. Strong defensive guard that everyone is looking for, and he shot 40% from 3 last year.

I mean, creating the super max is fairly recent and was done to incentivize franchise players to re-sign with their incumbent teams and by that measure has been wildly successful. They might tinker but the idea is here to stay. At minimum, it theoretically allows teams to at least not lose franchise players for nothing.

Also want to underscore that we haven’t even had a back-to-back conference champion in six years. Measures believed to be improving parity are sticking around.

Suggs would be the salary dump but I could also see WCJ getting dumped after this season. If either guy has another injury plagued year they may not be able to get off the money. That team got really spendy really fast.

Bet they would dump Isaac if they could right now... something to watch with the TPE we have. Not that we would take him but could be a three team type deal.

I’m thinking long term. Most teams don’t work out, that’s just the reality of chasing a championship. And if they fail to meet sky high expectations, one of Franz or Paolo will probably be moved.

Franz is just someone I want to keep an eye on in the next upcoming years if/when we try to trade for a star.

Never. The high-end players would never allow it and the NBAPA would look bad going along with it. I’d imagine they’d let the rift fester and then do a quick sleight-of-hand to channel that angst toward owners and then try to leverage that into more weight in CBA negotiation.
