assuming everybody has boozer, aj, peterson and wilson as the top 4 - seems to be the general consensus out in the draft world anyway - who do you guys have as the 5 and 6? or who is in the next tier. my next tier might just be 2 dudes.
i think for now i've got Acuff at 5 and Steinbach at 6 and there is some distance between those two and 7.
At the moment, I don't have conviction in a 5th guy, especially if I try to think from the Jazz's perspective. In terms of BPA tiers, most people would put at least one of the top PGs in that 5/6 range, whether you think that's Flemings or Brown (or maybe Acuff). For me, it's probably Brown, but I think the Jazz would need to be blown away to draft another small-ish guard.
In this scenario, I could see the Jazz entertaining a trade with some team that wants one of the top PGs. Jazz would move back a couple spots and pick up an asset.
Starting around 6 or 7 the draft starts to become eye-of-the-beholder. If I'm the Jazz and we get shut out of the top 4 then I start cherry-picking starter-level guys with ceilings based on fit. The Jazz's expected alphas become Keyonte and Ace (hopefully), along with Lauri, so I start looking for complements to those three.
Neo Avadalas would improve our ball movement (and maybe our rim pressure), while keeping the pace Will Hardy seems to like. He's a three-levels guy, he keeps us long and athletic, and his playmaking is probably the best suited to unlock Walker Kessler's offense at the rim, since he can play over the top of the defense. He comps pretty well to Deni Avdija heading into the draft, but he's more athletic and up-tempo than Avdija. Can he come in and be efficient enough offensively to give us a boost? Probably. I might take him if we were drafting 7th or 8th.
I agree that Steinbach holds some interest, but you'd have to believe he's a meaningful upgrade to Filipowski to basically draft over Flip, and at least on the defensive side he might not be much of an upgrade.
