Golf

Who plays? How often do you play? I've been wanting to go play more and more, especially since I'm trying to cut down my playing of impact sports.

I have a set of Nickent clubs. I go to the range about once or twice a week and I've gone golfing 3 times this year. I would want to go more, but it's expensive and I don't know who to go with all the time.

I wouldn't mind getting out with a few of bums who golf. I'm not very good at all. I can't drive worth a lick, so I use my hybrid 3 off the T. That way, I'll usually get about 200 straight yards without a slice on my drive. Would anyone be interested in going to some cheap course and playing 9 with a cart? Sorry, I can't walk cause my knees.

I'm a 2 handicap, but I don't golf much anymore so in reality I'm probably a 5 or 6. If anyone in the Logan area wants to go this summer hit me up. I'm game anytime.

I used to love playing golf growing up. I used to be a monster off the tee, but never could figure out the short game. I have many 360+ drives and have driven or over-shot many par 4's in my day.

Now a days? I hate golf. I don't have the patience or time to get better, so it just becomes a frustrating couple of hours. I went once or twice last year against my better judgement, and I am not planning on ever playing again. I truly do loath it.

Since I got home from my mission (13 years this summer) I have golfed a grand total of once. I literally could throw the ball straighter and a hell of a lot further than I could hit it. I have no interest in going again.

I have tried it once as well. I sucked so bad, and disliked it so much, I threw my club as far out onto the course and I could and left it there. The guide was pissed. He went to go get it and I went to my car and left.

I want to start playing golf again. I started in middle school, but quickly got bored of it and quit. I was actually a decent player. Had a mean driving game.

1. Yes if you mean hacking at the little white dimpled thing thinking if that little ball had a pair of balls I would so hit you in them of course that implies actually hitting the ball.
2. Try to go often which equals 1-4 times a year but last few years lucky to go once.
3. I go wherever the person(s) I go with calls to setup a tee time.

Seriously though I started in 2000 and I swear I was better then than I am now. Definitely was a better driver but I guess my chipping is the only thing really improved the rest I'm sure I'm worse at. Coincidentally I believe I'll be going the next weekend with a friend coming up from Vegas (he's the one that taught me to golf) I think we'll likely go to the one off 90th and I-15 believe it's called River Oaks (reaches almost to 106so by Mulligans) that or maybe the one off the I215 6200so exit believe it's called Oldmill.

*edit, the one I've probably been to most in WVC by Hunter High believe it's West Ridge is doing renovation or something so it's closed or we might go there*

I play. Hobble Creek being my favorite spot. That's my therapeutic - get away from all civilization and hack up a storm - course. It's magic.

Love playing and was the girls' golf coach for one year. Got a hole in one at Riverbend a few years ago (#3 I think). Football, track, and drivers ed have hurt the game for sure (otherwise being a teacher would work well with golfing). Networking has opened up a lot of tournament options but just don't have the time usually.

Love Hobble Creek but played mostly Spanish Oaks when I lived down there.

Now in Draper I play mostly Riverbend if I got the choice. Not very good now (never was). Probably around an 18 as a guess.

Golf is the best. My favorite job was when I worked at a course for a summer. Golf is a great getaway with friends when you are married and have kids. Plus if you can get fairly good at golf you can keep busy during retirement and it's fun to play new courses on vacation.

Buuuuuull Shiiiiiiz.

I love golf. Favorite sport to play. Im a 1 handicap and my goal is to be scratch by the end of this Summer.

Anybody watching The Masters? My favorite sports event of the year.

Dude, you've seen me. I'm 6'3" and used to walk around at 250lbs. I swing over 125 MPH. I've overshot par 4's at Parkway, and Old Mill and I was banned from using my driver at Mick Riley because 8 out of 10 would clear their fence and end up on the course. I've maybe swung my driver 10x in the last 12 months and I'm positive I could out-drive anyone here. I've been in two long drive contests, but never placed because I couldn't hit the bastage straight.

Golf sucks, btw.

I grew up on a golf course as a kid and would jump on right before they closed and would play about 5 holes and then go home. Played a lot of golf as a kid. I haven't played in over 5 years and just went out and played 18 holes this weekend and loved every second of it. Finally found a pair of clubs that are perfect for me. I'm going to start golfing at least 2-3 times a week now.

Tiger Woods swings at 125%.

Speaking of long drives, I have two friends that can out of pretty much any range in the state. Oh, they're professionals and scary good.

Play to an 8.5 Handicap right now (High 70's, Low 80's) on most days.

This will be my 7th year playing.

After High School and College I couldn't play competitive sports (Football, Basketball, Baseball in HS and Football in College) any longer and some friends at work really were into golf. Lets say I couldn't help myself and ended up at the range twice per week and playing weekly.

7 Years later - I am still hooked.

So far this year
Trip to St. George/Mesquite
72 Holes in 3 Days

Probably been out a total of 6 times so far as well - some 18 holes and some 9 holes.

If ANYONE is getting into playing go get a lesson or two. Also get FITTED for your clubs. Makes a world of difference!

I think Trout is talking about pure driving speed, with no accuracy at all. Obviously Woods has accuracy with power. It isn't that hard to swing a driver fast if you aren't worried about accuracy.

I'm going to get a season range pass at Thanksgiving Point tomorrow seeing how I've been hitting a lot of balls lately. If anyone ever wants to go hit with me, let me know. It would be fun. Trout, I'd love to verify you can drive 360 yards. I watched the longest drive competition in Mesquite just a few months ago, and that would have put you in the top 3 guys.

Get me a decent left handed club and I bet I can still do it. It has been years since I've actually golfed or tried, and all I have is the Biggest Big Bertha driver, which was bomb.com at the time -- but now, not so much.
