What the hell could Andre Miller or Mark Jackson in their primes do for this team? Is that really being posed as a point of discussion?

How old are you? Did you ever see him play? Mark Jackson was a million times better than Devin Harris could ever hope to be. He truly understood the position of point guard. For his career, he averaged 8.0 assists per game and just 2.4 turnovers in 30 minutes per game. Very, very good numbers when you factor in a couple of really poor/mediocre seasons late.

Jackson was integral in helping the Pacers make one NBA Finals and coming a minute or two away from making a second (the previous year), being the one team who ever pushed the Bulls to seven games. He was not a loser.

I've already explained this. The higher they finish, the more lotto balls they get. So if they finished 4 or 5, even though they wouldn't get the pick, they still have a very good chance at jumping into the top 3 in the lotto. So yes, if they're not in the running to make the playoffs, they would still try and give themselves the best chance possible of keeping their pick. They have no trouble selling tickets, so they have no reason not to protect their future interests. Anyone who believe they won't tank again, for whatever reason, is only kidding themselves.

Was referring to the tank job this year.
 
Detroit is going to get lucky and jump into the top 3. I've had that feeling in my bones ever since the lottery odds were set.
So, if I were KOC, I'd want the Warriors to wow me. Anything short of an unprotected pick next year + 30 + a swap of our second round picks... and I walk. Call that unrealistic if you like.

While I think this draft class has been consistently over-rated from day #1, I do think that #8 is equal to about #5 in general. For a team that is already infused with young talent, you don't walk away from the chance to land a "top 5" talent. If you can push those odds to next year + pick up assets because they have nervous, sweaty chodes, then you do it.

You and I are pretty much on exactly the same page. Especially on the Detroit thing. I just feel it.

For the record. If somehow Detroit ended up with Knight, MKG, Prince, and Davis on their team, I wouldn't pull for them to win anymore than I do now (none). I'd pull for them as individuals, but couldn't care less about the team.
