Roger Braille Buyout Problems (merged)

Break him. Make him come back run two a days or whatever. Fine him for being out of shape. Make him sit in a suit behind the bench. Never let him near the court. Have the cameras focus in on him at awkward times. Send Steve Brown to ask him questions like " what is it like to be a proud veteran sitting here watching these young guys make mistakes?" In all press releases spell his name Roger. .... Fine him if he doesn't report.

Work is kicking my butt today so every 10 minutes I look back and laugh at this. Thanks!

My apologies if someone has already mentioned this, but the guy who started a good portion for our team at SG last year is unable to find a team that covets his services. Think about that. This is both very disheartening and cause for optimism at the same time. It's disheartening because it shows ineptness on the part of both KOC for bringing him here and the coaching staff for playing him as much as they did (especially considering Burks could have really benefitted from those minutes). And it's cause for optimism because we basically got rid of one of the least coveted FA's I can remember and are replacing him with players like Foye, Burks and Hayward.

Contenders to Raja: "We're considered "contenders" for a reason. No thanks"

I know we all hate Raja right now but you're kidding yourself if you don't think one of the top team wouldn't pick him up for the minimum. He shot 46% on FG and almost 40% from 3s. I'd be shocked if he went unsigned.

Well a few weeks ago he basically said that the only things left to do were dot the i's and cross the t's for the buyout to go through? Now he's rejecting it? What's the issue? I'm sure he'll land somewhere, but it doesn't look like he's getting any interest from teams where he wants to go.

Also, we're a team that barely squeaked into the playoffs and have vowed that we would never pay someone to not play here. I know he had a tissy fit with Ty, but if he were decent we would have kept him. So if a team in our situation is going against our morals to get rid of him, why would a team that wants to contend suddenly jump at the chance to sign him?

Yeah it's new ground for the Jazz. LHM would have never bought him out. But when Raja signed, Sloan was coach, D-Will was here. Lots of changes have been made. He doesn't want to be here and the Jazz don't want/need him anymore either. He is not a game changer by any standard but could be a decent 15 minute a night guy in the right situation.

I've said this before over the past couple years but if you're trying to drum up excitement among the fan base (which I would say was successful to a large degree) after letting Matthews sign elsewhere, and your move is to pick up a guy whose last stop was the Harlem Globetrotters, you have some problems.

However, I do believe he'd be a good fit this time around with Washington. The Generals could use some veteran experience.

It is a waste to Amnesty a $3m expiring contract, especially if your team is and plans to stay under the cap. The buyout was probably that Utah pays everything over the veteran's minimum deal. Sad that Raja could not get any team to offer him a miniumum veteran's deal, when almost 50% of that contract would be paid by the NBA itself.

Ultimately, I think Raja should put his tail between his legs, be a professional, and act as a motivator and another coach for the Jazz team. Until he got injured and whiney, he did help pump the team up and provide a veteran presence. I would rather the Jazz keep him in that role (few, if any minutes per game) than to waive/buy him out and pay him the same to do nothing. I think he could actually be useful as a 12th man/player-coach.
