What's new

For the Royce white fans...

For those of you questioning how he can perform at a high level but is not able to board a plane, you haven't dealt with this kind of anxiety disorder. From experience, it can be debilitating and in a lot of ways it doesn't really make sense. I hope he can continue to work through these issues, for his own sake, but also because I can't wait to watch him play! He's exciting.

I get that .. but it's not a plane thing .. it's an anxiety thing, per him.

That's my point.. he's always played great on the big stage with pressure on ... think about it.
You obviously don't know a ****ing thing about anxiety disorder.

Wrong. I know more than you will ever know, fact. And I know Royce' condition better than most (and definitely better than anyone here).. if you choose not to read between the lines, fine, but don't dare tread on my inability to empathize with an anxiety disorder.

He is not afraid of playing basketball. His anxiety is based in an irrational fear about flying. My sister has the same anxiety. She is fine in every aspect of her life but she turns into a nervous nut when she starts talking about flying. She is working on the anxiety but it is very difficult to overcome. I give White a lot of credit for making his condition public because he has open himself up for public shame since most people don't really understand his condition.

The thing I don't understand is why did he miss the opening of training camp. Couldn't he have taken a bus to Houston?

I'm a highly functional person with some severe anxiety issues. Take celexa daily and Xanax before presentations and whenever I feel an attack come on. It's easy to relate to him when you live through this **** daily. There are just something's when you have anxiety that are very difficult to overcome. For Royce, it's flying. He will function normally in most other situations. My issues are related to confinement such as sitting in long meetings or conferences and unfortunately flying which I have to do far more often than I would like. I used to vomit everytime I went into meeting I lead. It's crazy and hard to understand. For the record not claiming anyone here does or does not know what it is like, just sharing my experiences.

I had major anxiety and depression so bad that i would breath so hard i would lose feeling in my hands temporarily. I studied anxiety and depression in depth after an ex of mine had so many problems. After studying the people who got rid of both of these vs people who suppress the problem with drugs it became clear to me personally what was the problem. Most people get angry when I say this because its so simple for something so painful.
But it came down to suppressing emotions in all the cases I studied. In the great parts of our life we use those emotions to serve us give us indicators that something needs to change. Usually there was something subconscious that would give them doubt or fear. Instead of overcoming it they would suppress it and it would sprout up in another area in there life. Using alternative options to reset your subconscious mind and NLP techniques I solved my problem and some people around me. This is coming from people who solved the problem. So I would recommend anyone who has these disorders to find someone who overcame it and see what you can learn.
