What's new

Playing Time post-deadline

I think if Ty gave Burks the backup PG spot then that solves Carrolle's minutes easy. The Burks/Foye/Hayward backcourt has fared well enough this year.

Burks needs to hit 20 minutes every night. Carroll is the kind of guy who doesn't need a TON of minutes (probably 20ish) but I think he can be highly effective going forward as an 8th-9th man who holds this team together. I like the pieces we have, but we really need to focus on developing the bigs. If Favors and Kanter can become a Gasol-Randolph level frontcourt (or even approach that) we're in great shape.

Isn't that what we were all saying last year?

I'm having a really bad case of deja vu right now. I believe that the next step is for the Jazz to play the Spurs in the first round and get swept. We will hear from management that the playoffs will give the young guys experience despite them getting even less than they did in the regular season.

Can't wait.

Ding ding. It is playoff push time. Time to shorten the bench. I fully expect Kanter and Burks' minutes to drop drastically now.

It's how i feel too. For the 7th or 8th spot, iam sure Corbin is gonna play Al and Millsap even more.

Another thing I gleaned from Lindsey's interview, fwiw, was that part of the reason they made no deal was to maintain negotiating face as the years go on. "We had to reaffirm that if you want a Jazz player you have to pay a premium", or something like that. Now he didn't explicitly say this but I think you could read between the lines.

How boring is this thing.

At least maybe Al an Sap were showcased and now that noone being interested in them, the rotation can become more fair to the other players now. I mean you have to give your young players more and more time if you want them to reach their ceilings as fast as they can, right?

Al and Paul shouldn't loose minutes. Marvin should. And if Burks can be consistent, Earl's minutes should go down.

I love hearing Locke justify why the young guys will be the starting line up next year. When they are not starting and playing big minutes, what will he say?

Everyone who thinks both Paul and Al will be back are just trying to find something to whine about. I can understand the impatience, hell I feel it to, but at least one of thems a goner.

I just hope we keep winning. Make some noise in the playoffs. Then maybe we can s&t Mansap and/or Jefferdad on draft night to move up to get Burke. And hopefully Marvin opts out.. Can it be next season now?

Well, last night at least (Clips) Hayward and Burks go the most minutes and Enes even got 17. :)

Gordon's never had trouble getting minutes, but it is good to see Burks get that much burn. Kanter though would've ended with like 11 minutes if the game was close.

Gordon has rarely gotten over 25. Lets hope that last night was not just an anomaly.

Gordo has played over 25 minutes in 29 of his 46 games this season, and averages 26.7 minutes per game.

I stand corrrected. Gordon rarely gets over 26.8 minutes. LOL.

Still, he ought to be averaging 35 mpg, at least from here on out.
