Self Defense

I don't know anyone who has a dog over 5 pounds that would even bark if an intruder came in. Stupid mutts.

Well I had a GermanShepherd/Coyote mix that would certainly lay it all out, and a Malamute/wolf that would too. And a Chow Chow I could trust with my life.

there's a reason folks like Troutbum hated the aggressive breeds like doberman pincher and Pit Bulls, kid-eaters and huge liabilities to have on the premises.

If you carry a gun you have to be mentally prepared to use it effectively, which is to say lethally considering the lawyers who'll come a swarming after whatever you have.

Chinese folks have never had good police protection, and usually there have been armed gangs led by some thug calling himself a warlord, who was essentially judge, jury, executioner, and government. Some people just learned to live inconspicuously and avoid any attention whatsoever.

Failing of that, a lot of cameras, and franklins window and door hardware will keep most troublemakers moving on down the street, until we do have brazen gangs of home invasion robbers and warlords with big ideas.

I've heard that flood lights for the outside of your house are about the best deterrent you can get.

I have to Pomeranians that will bark their ears off. At least it's enough time to pull out my 9mm and do some real self defense if needed.

Get a bear trap and a can of Lysol.

hmmmm. . . . must be some special use of these items. . . . please explain

1) how to keep a kid out of the bear trap, or the Lysol. . ..
2) how to get an intruder to not step over it. . . .
3) guessing Lysol is for spraying like mace, only it doesn't require a complete room renovation after use like mace does.

I read another good deterrent is to keep your car keys by your bed. Then if you hear something in the home your press the "panic" button on the key fob.

Also maybe karate classes?

Never worried much about keeping the kids out of the beer. One time my youngest grabbed a tall boy & went chugging on momma's lap. Scared her enough to fix that problem. She did get a good night's rest for the first time in 22 months though.

A blinding mag light (not to be used in isolation). I bought my wife brass knuckles for her keychain a few months ago. A shotgun with a good sound. Maybe flash grenades.

well, the concentration camps have some good tools, too. mesmerizing audio and strobe lights that just immobilize folks. Could work in the front yard. . . . .

Krav maga all the way.

Trust me. if you do krav maga twice a week within 2 years you will be able defend yourself from the most common attacks.
if you got a great krav maga instructor. within 3-4 years training twice a week for an hour. you will learn to sruvive.

btw are there any krav maga schools(dojo) in utah?

Not sure. Maybe up north but that can be some hard core stuff if done right.
