Used to be, the Egyptian military was in the US pocket, but now they are going against Obama because the information is just all over about how the Muslim Brotherhood is actually a fascist western-based "asset" being used to foment war in the region, and they've decided to put an end to it.

I always wonder what the reason behind Stoked's non-reaction attitude towards the happenings in Turkey in the last few months. Is it the media filter? Is it beacuse he does not see Turkey as a matter of Middle-east? I was surprised by it because he is really interested in such topics about the region.
Are you referring to Turkey's involvement with Syria? If so I talked about that.
Or are you talking about the protests in Turkey? If so I never really saw any reports that indicated it was more than a few protests. If that is not the case then please share.

The protests are huge by meaning and vast in numbers and areal spreadedness; but cannot be compared to what Egypt is in now if we take them by death count. But I was more curious about the bombing in Reyhanlı, Hatay. Simply a massacre caused probably by the Syrian rebels and their benefactors the Turkish government who idiotically sees interest in starting a wsr with Syria.

I still can see the noticable inadequate awareness of the Western scholars towards the root reasons behind the struggling and conflict in Turkey. I don't blame anyone for it since it's even hard for us to attach a name to the whole thing. And we are obviously lacking the effort to spread the word about what the current Turkish governments intentions are all about. But it's getting better. Way better...
Agreed about the inadequate awareness of the Westerners and us lacking the effort to spread the word. But I doubt the things getting better. We will see that in the next elections.
And I actually fear us to be the new generations of victims of our gracious army with yet another coup. Just like the poor Egyptian fellows. Especially after all the things AKP have done to the military dudes, some righteously some unwarranted, I fear if they decide to strike back.
These lands, ME/Turkey, can't handle democracy without blood and westerners don't help in any way at all. Even when they say that they want to help, they just ruin it and make it worse, just like the Syrian and Egyptian examples again. Though no sane one believes their help claims in the first place, but I wish they just could stay out of it, at the very least.
You and me both. Enough American (and other allied) soldiers have died over there. If a bunch of idiots want to kill themselves by all means, wipe each other out. Then the good people over there can actually get somewhere and build something lasting.
