Missing 1 piece

How quickly we change. At start of season everyone thought Jazz had all the pieces.
Now no one is sure.
Jazz should have the pieces.
They just need some experience.
Like Hayward, Evans, Watson etc.

Well the Jazz certainly would be in better shape if they had kept Matthews. Even with him I think the Jazz need some more help off the bench. Okur is going to help but he creates most of his shots through the offense. The Jazz need a guy who can make shots in the system and also when the system breaks down.

Very true. If Bynum's out of the equation, Jefferson seems to have showed that he can match up well with Pau. Odom though? Man, he's been a nightmare for us. Can you think of any twos who fit your criteria who at some point between now and February could be on the block AND be had in some sort of trade in which both teams come out okay as far as the LT is concerned?
I'm not sure if this is an open question or if it's meant for TICC directly, but I'll bite anyway.

I don't think the Jazz will make any big moves, at least not any for the positive. That's not to say that they wouldn't be willing, but the Jazz just don't have pieces they'd be willing to trade or pieces another team would necessarily want.

The Jazz are not going to trade Williams, Jefferson, or Millsap, and they can't unload Memo. I don't think anyone but Jazz fans see value in Hayward and I doubt they'd trade him anyway. I don't think Bell has market-value, Price and Watson don't either and their salaries are too small to make anything significant happen anyway. Fesenko is a UFA and his minuscule salary also wouldn't be able to swing anything except as a slight chip in something larger which again is something I see as unlikely. If Miles has a good year, he becomes untouchable, and if he has a bad year, he isn't worth much.

With AK, using his expiring to take on a longer term contract hits several snags as well;
1) Whatever the Jazz take back would be sizable salary and would conceivably put them in the LT for the foreseeable future. I don't see the Jazz doing that and I wouldn't endorse it either.
2) For every good player with a big contract on a bad team, there's the massive TPE's that Cleveland and Toronto have that are much more attractive than taking on an $18 million cap number, especially considering there are a lot of other smaller expirings that might be able to pull off the same thing. In other words, Kirilenko's expiring contract is SO large that it's prohibitive for both the Jazz and whatever team the Jazz might find.

If the Jazz make a big move, it's purely financial and people won't like it (see the almost AK blockbuster right before camp). At least that's my assessment.

The only players that I can think of that might even be available that even remotely matches the criteria would be Jason Richardson and Kevin Martin (if the Rockets continue to find a way to lose, but I think they'll turn it around).

In all honesty, hoping Miles or Hayward turn into that player is probably the best option. As ****** as that may look sometimes.

I think this is a good analysis. To be honest, looking at where the Jazz are now, the best single move they could make would be to somehow bring in an electric, dynamic shooting guard--someone who's quicker than Miles and who has both an inside and outside game. In other words, if the Jazz could replace Raja Bell and/or Gordon Hayward with Eric Gordon, they'd be a complete team and legit contender. But this, of course, is a pipe dream. (No, Matthews wasn't really that player.)

You're also right that veteran players that don't fit in a rebuilding situation are the ones that get unloaded every season. Look for players like Gilbert Arenas, Michael Redd, Rip Hamilton, maybe Stephen Jackson (if Charlotte continues to struggle) to possibly get moved near the deadline, but none of them look to be a solution for the Jazz.

So I agree, the best approach is to hope Hayward develops, hope Fess keeps progressing, hope Millsap keeps developing an all-around game, and hope Okur comes back strong.

Below average is pretty generous. He was possibly the worst defender on the team.
