Missing 1 piece

Sure missed KK tonight vrs the Warriors. :)

This.

Korver is anything but the missing piece, but he is preferable to CJ "Soon-.....one day...sometime soon....not now, but real soon, cuz he has so much potential...when he figures it out...again not now but soon...to be the next Jordan" Miles. Not sure how many more 3-pt airballs I can stomach.

I would love to see the Jazz somehow orchestrate AK + whatever to NJ for Lopez + whatever. I like Jefferson but he is not a "legit" center, as we saw with Biedrins tonight. Biedrins length bothered him too much. We could figure out how to get them time on the floor (Lopez, Jefferson, Sap), or find the "odd-man-out" and make another trade, but a true center, with size and coordination and some ability to block shots and rebound and maybe score some would get us much much closer. But right now a real center will win us more games than AK will.

The Korver debates aside, we also need a more solid 2. Maybe one day Hayward, who knows. But right now we are missing the defense-stretching 3's we got from Korver and Okur last year. To help us win games now, like the GS game tonight, we need someone to step up in that department. Or work it into the AK for Lopez trade. Heck if you're gonna dream, dream big! =)

I'm not sure if this is an open question or if it's meant for TICC directly, but I'll bite anyway.

I don't think the Jazz will make any big moves, at least not any for the positive. That's not to say that they wouldn't be willing, but the Jazz just don't have pieces they'd be willing to trade or pieces another team would necessarily want.

The Jazz are not going to trade Williams, Jefferson, or Millsap, and they can't unload Memo. I don't think anyone but Jazz fans see value in Hayward and I doubt they'd trade him anyway. I don't think Bell has market-value, Price and Watson don't either and their salaries are too small to make anything significant happen anyway. Fesenko is a UFA and his minuscule salary also wouldn't be able to swing anything except as a slight chip in something larger which again is something I see as unlikely. If Miles has a good year, he becomes untouchable, and if he has a bad year, he isn't worth much.

With AK, using his expiring to take on a longer term contract hits several snags as well;
1) Whatever the Jazz take back would be sizable salary and would conceivably put them in the LT for the foreseeable future. I don't see the Jazz doing that and I wouldn't endorse it either.
2) For every good player with a big contract on a bad team, there's the massive TPE's that Cleveland and Toronto have that are much more attractive than taking on an $18 million cap number, especially considering there are a lot of other smaller expirings that might be able to pull off the same thing. In other words, Kirilenko's expiring contract is SO large that it's prohibitive for both the Jazz and whatever team the Jazz might find.

If the Jazz make a big move, it's purely financial and people won't like it (see the almost AK blockbuster right before camp). At least that's my assessment.

The only players that I can think of that might even be available that even remotely matches the criteria would be Jason Richardson and Kevin Martin (if the Rockets continue to find a way to lose, but I think they'll turn it around).

In all honesty, hoping Miles or Hayward turn into that player is probably the best option. As ****** as that may look sometimes.

I don't think you should say Millsap is not being traded. He's not a piece we need to stick to unconditionally and quite frankly no matter how good he's playing now, he'll get exposed come playoff time. If we could package him and Okur's great contract for something like KMart and Afflalo, I think it could be beneficial. Afflalo gives us an athletic, versatile wing who can shoot and defend. We need that badly. KMart can slide in to the starting 4 spot and his contract's expiring. We'd have a buttload of cap space in the off-season to re-sign him and/or AK at the right price or go after Gasol or my boy, Perkins, if he shows he can ever walk again.

Why we do it? For the wing we desperately need. It also gives us financial freedom in the offseason. Imagine Jefferson sliding to the 4 and Perkins, if he's healthy again, manning the 5. I'm dizzy with excitement.

Why Denver does it? It rids them of KMart who they've grown tired of and gives them a much younger 4 at a reasonable price for a few more years. They also get bigger with Okur who can add another dimension to their team. Maybe we'd have to trade them Miles to. Maybe not.

I don't know. I'm spitballing here and the world is falling. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh.

I think you keep Millsap and try to see how much further his game can expand. The best would be if he could play at the small forward spot in certain situations. He doesn't need to hit 3s, just keep expanding his mid-range game. Then you can play Jefferson and Okur or Fess at the 4/5, which gives us more size and rebounding.

I would love a player like JAX on this team. He would bring the nasty we need. Sure he can be a headcase, but he is a bad *** competitor.

This.

And I've been saying this for the last two to three years.

Imagine years ago if we had acquired Jax at the 2 and Artest at the 3. Hell, our defense would improve dramatically, we'd have better shooters (though they're far from great) and the best part? Together they make less than AK, so much so that they'd even be below the LT I believe so the Millers would save about 6M. But hey, I love 3's who can't shoot, get hurt 20 games a year, cry in the post-season nd are paid nearly 18M.

Reports are Denver is interested in Favors again. Maybe we should get back involved and try replace Monsieur Croissant with S JAX.

Millsap + Okur for Afflalo + KMart? You're ****ing retarded. Exposed in the playoffs? What? Sap's played pretty well in the playoffs for his career.

I'd love Jax as well, but his contract doesn't expire until 2012. Still, if the Jazz can move Memo+ for Jax+, that's something you have to think about. The Jazz would be instantly better.

This post made me laugh. Millsap has been the Jazz's MVP this year. He is putting up Boozer's #'s with much more defense. A thing Milly does that Booz never ever did was help on D. I think Millsap draws the most offensive fouls in the league with all the charges he takes.

What hasn't he done to get your support. Does he need to average 30 and 16???

And Millsap and Okur for K Mart and Afflalo, oh God. Millsap might be an all star this year. K Mart is always hurt and Afflalo is good. Maybe Okur for Afflalo

True. Sap's fared so well against the Lakers.

He did fine (offensively) against them in the playoffs last season. You make that trade, you end up with Afflalo and nothing else. ****ing retarded.

Also, Kendrick Perkins? ew. Dude will be exposed when he's not playing alongside KG and PP.

Sap > Perkins (and he's not signing with the Jazz anyway)

A bird in the hand > half a bird in an unreachable bush

I realize box score stats don't tell the whole story, but Sap averaged 19 points per game on 53% shooting against the Lakers in the playoffs last season. If you put a legit 5 (someone who can defend and grab defensive rebounds) beside that, it's a lot better than Arron Afflalo.

Let me start off by saying I said I was spitballing and so it should have been taken with a grain of salt.
I've just soured into UB's Fanboys Blue Zone and it's been tough to watch Miles and Bell out there.
How was Millsap defensively against the Lakers?
Perkins made Howard his bitch in the playoffs last year with little to no help from Garnett.
My point wasn't purely an Afflalo for Millsap trade. It also involved getting out of Okur's contract a year earlier essentially.
Do you think a Millsap-AJ combo starting at the 4-5 can win a championship?
