GAME 1(!): Your UTAH JAZZ hosting OKLAHOBOS -- Wednesday Oct30 7pm MST -- ROOT Sports

The Jazz are missing a third of their personnel, have another third who never played with the others before, and one last third without any starter experience. But yeah, OKC didn't have a guy.

"a" guy. LOL. right.

Scrubs vs an NBA All-Star

Yea, we had it worse.

Hayward always starts his seasons slow. Hopefully he gets it going soon though, I don't want to wait until the season is 1/3 gone before he looks decent.
He will have better games, and I still think he will have more consistent good games.

Fun game to watch. Burks, Favors, Gobert, Kanter, and even Harris impressed for the most part. JLIII will look better as Tinsley starts to mentor him... that's why we got Tinsley right?

So the fact an inexperienced team came as close as they did against an accomplished contender is irrelevant because the latter was missing a good player. Gotcha.

Thought Corbin did a really good job tonight. Rode that early 4th lineup as long as he could, got Burks a little rest before bringing him back in. Gordo was cold, and maybe Corbin should have brought him in earlier, and moved Burks to the 1 until Harris's inevitable foul out, but overall Corbin did a really good job putting the team in a position to win a tough game. Everyone seemed prepared, knew what was expected of them, and competed from start to finish. Nice opener.

He didn't run the ABA substitution pattern, which was great to see.

How interesting that Kanter had 10 points and 9 rebounds in the 2nd half, yet he only played 14 minutes in that half and only 3 minutes in the 4th quarter. Somehow, I have a hard time calling that "good coaching."

Even though Favors had a good game he had 6 turnovers.

Hayward had a very good showing defensively. We could have won if he contributed little more offensively.

Kanter had a quiet double double.

I thought Gobert couldn't box out but he did well rebounding.

Harris is a good surprise.

Burks. OMFG.

best news of the game

NO BEANS!!!

I hope he doesn't come back at all.

Gobert looked good and definitely bothered shots

You know what I loved about this game?

We came within three points of knocking out a championship contender, with their best player going of for 40-- all while we only dressed 10 jerseys. Marvin, Rush, and Burke all out with injury.

Im telling you-- this team will not be as bad as people think we will be. We have so much ****ing talent, and every player on this roster doesn't want to lose.

Sorry to the tank crowd, but I'm expecting lotsa heart from this group of guys.

Great start to the season. Go Jazz!

While I agree, lets not forget that they were missing Westbrook.

He's kind of a big deal for that team.

I'm with you Siro. Jazz made this a game when the shouldn't have. This is a fantastic sign.

Facepalm man! OKC is not a contender without Westbrook. They have never contended without Westbrook. Westbrook is not just a good player. Westbrook is a great player. He is a top-10 NBA player. He is instrumental in what OKC hopes to do in their game plans, in the structure of their team, and in any hopes they have at making it anywhere in the playoffs. Are you kidding (trolling) me? Are you so desperate for silver linings that you're willing to either completely downplay and distort the truth or delude yourself into thinking this way? I don't know why it bugs me so much, other than the fact that is just seems so... dishonest

Edit: I'm not saying it's not cool that we played as close as we did. But why do we have to lie about the quality of team we were playing? Are we so desperate for good feelings and what not. Is it not enough to say we played a decent playoff quality team close? Why must we embellish

You need Gobert against OKC's length. Thought it was a good move by Corbin.

We're going to be damn good in a year or two. But for now, we really need a top 5 pick to find someone who can take over games. Hayward isn't that guy.

So Corbin should have broken up the lineup that fought the Jazz back into the game?

Stupid.
