What's new

when will we hear news of Kanter ?

Ya and tbh he has looked like garbage quite often, but this has been a strange season and I would like to see him in the starting lineup playing major minutes with the rest of the youguns (especially trey) to be able to have a more accurrate evaluation of how good he is/can become.

If we pick up more losses along the way with kanter starting instead of marvin, then I don't have any problem with that.
(Though I understand what gvc said about the other players maybe having a problem with it)

Best case scenario is we can trade marv soon
Second best case is marv gets hurt

See my Fire Ty thread. Jazz would have to bring in a coach who honestly believes that's the winning road. Corbin is not going to throw games to see in game what he already has seen in practice.

Jazz need to bring in a coach that will guarantee a 0-10 run, and bench Trey for some dumbass reason or another.

Marv deserves his min, nothing is wrong about it. Kanter's gotta work till his *** off no doubt about it. Noone is gonna give any present to him to make him happy.

You sound too categorical. It seems that Kanter has to battle against everybody! Marvin is working hard just to get a new profitable contract!

I'm not sure Marvin is known to be a gutsy player! Playing him 4 instead playing Kanter it does not seem a smart move.

The Core5 has to be starting lineup. Players like Marvin, Jefferson that don't have future in this team have to begin from bench.

Teorically not, pratically and the result wise it's the smartest thing Corbin found out. The bad thing is Kanter's efficiency in all matches. Just terrible and summarizing his dissappointing performance.

Assuming that we are tanking, if you believe that Kanter was the main reason why we were loosing the first games, his presence in the starting lineup shouldn't be negative.

The problem is he can not make the team in starting 5 and this team is the worst in the whole league by far away. Is not it fault of Kanter? The rebounding problem, matador defense, tons of turnovers and rookie mistakes over and over. I hope he does not join the "Derrick williams " team

I'm pretty sure I see a couple of Kanter blows posts from people who were saying Favors is a bust 4 weeks ago.

And now DL looks like a genius for locking up Favors before he goes RFA.

Trust me, Kanter will play well again, suck again, go back to playing well and then go back to sucking again before he figures this thing out.

This to infinity and beyond!

He was putting up good numbers when he was in the starting lineup.
How was his defense, defensive rebounding, and general team play? "Numbers" don't tell much of the story. Kanter has been playing poorly all year.

Ok ok, better to keep playing Evans over him.
Evans is executing much better than Enes right now. When Enes shows he can do the things that are being asked of him, he'll probably get more minutes. It's that simple.

He is not being traded this season. Big men don't hit their stride until 5 years in the NBA, so Kanter has got a couple more to show his worth. It would be stupid for them to trade him.

Sightings of LunaticWolf by the townsfolk lately. Authorities say, he is stalking around in order to bash Kanter.

Sensible

I trust you, this is very sensible and I am baffled by the extreme views and volatile views on Kanter. I think we are getting what was reasonable to expect from him, perhaps slightly disappointed with development and playing time in prior years.

I wish it were that simple, but in the past Corbin has not shown a tendency to base playing time on performance. How else to explain the amount of playing time given to Bell, Howard, Foye (relative to Hayward who was a superior player by almost all metrics), and Marvin last year? It strikes me as hypocritical now to be saying that playing time is based on performance where it comes to the young players we need to develop when this standard has not been applied to veterans with the same consistency.

While I agree that playing should should, to a degree be based on performance, this cannot be the only, or even most important standard, used this year, particularly given that the objectives this year are to develop the youth and improve our position in the draft. Kanter should be given a consistent more or less 25 minutes a night. I'm confident that we'll see his performance improve over the course of the season, but this current policy of yanking him around and giving him spot minutes (while ruining his confidence) is inconsistent with the objectives for this season.
