I just read an inspiring article about Bynum:

https://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2013/12/28/cavs-suspend-bynum-indefinitely/

Bynum has played in 24 of the Cavs’ 28 games this season and has started the last 18. He’s had his highs and lows, but has looked rather stiff at times and has shot 42 percent. The Cavs have been worse both offensively and defensively with him on the floor than they’ve been with him on the bench.

When asked about his suspension, he apparently told Yahoo sports that he never wants to play basketball again and never liked it in the first place.

I don't know all the contract stuff because he's got a weird contract, but the gist of it would be:

Marvin Williams
Burks
2nd rounder

for

Bynum
Right to swap picks (in the event we swap, they get the GSW pick [we reserve right to refuse swap])

This helps our tank but can legitimately be sold as a taking a chance rather than a tank move. We destabilize chemistry for a bit, get Marvin away from the brake pedal on the tank and most of all remove the Cavs as a tank threat.

Willing to include other assets.

Not that I agree with this tank stuff, but surely, you would not want Bynum anywhere near our young bigs at this stage in their emotional development, right?

20-25 games. The bigger deal is that this frees up more minutes for everyone plus will effectively have more combos in the lottery.

My love for burks will not allow me to say that i think this is a good trade idea, but..............

Trading for Bynum doesn't mean we have to have him around. We could cut him, right? Especially if he already is planning retirement.

I don't know the ins and outs of his contract. But I think any move that gets us a franchise player from this draft is worth considering. I don't think some people on this board recognize the importance of this draft. A below top 3 pick combined with the loss of Hayward guarantees us another horrible season for next year. Is there anyone up to Randle, Parker, or Wiggins level in the 2015 draft?

If we really are afraid of developing a losing culture then the best way to guarantee a losing culture is to screw up this tank and merely gain another role player in the draft and lose Hayward over the summer.

Apologies. I missed the fact that his next season is not guaranteed and that he can be cut for free before July 10, 2014. His contract also stipulates that only half of this season's salary is guaranteed. I assume the deadline for that has passed, though.

I think this trade idea is worth considering. Especially if Bynum's contract allows us to get rid of him easy... Or if he already plans on retiring. I know it's probably wishful thinking but it really does sound like Bynum has had enough and just wants to spend the rest of his days in the playboy mansion.

We are doing them the favor taking on Bynum. Why the hell would we need to give them Burks?

Pick swap, which is to say that we will have a lot of 'effective' combinations in the lottery even if our tank sucks, especially if GSW ends up there, too.

What part of tank do you not understand?

One step backward in order to take 2 steps forward.

The goal isn't to become better via trades but to become worse.

Burks is just starting to show how good he could be in a year or two vs a draft pick that's unproven also there is 3-5 impact players we can get with our own pick dumbass! And Burks is starting to look like an impact player!

Burks will join the elite of Robert Whaley, CJ Miles, Jeremy Evans, Eric Maynor, Raul Neto, et al. who may not be bad players, but are over hyped and overvalued for how little value they actually bring.

If we end up utilizing the pick swap then it's very likely because it's top 3.

Teams like Cavs, Bobcats, Wizards and Kings don't have honor. They tank since 4-5 years!

I think that as long as Sloan will be around the Jazz we won't tank with purpose.

Jabari Parker or Burks? Who would you rather have?

Probably the reason Kobe hated him and why the Lakers stuck Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on him as his mentor from day 1.
